Obama seeks bigger diplomatic security budget

(CNN) - President Barack Obama called on Congress Thursday to fully fund administration requests for additional diplomatic security measures in the wake of the 2012 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

The requests include increasing the number of Marine guards dispatched to protect facilities around the world, Obama said.

Let's see them wrap their response to you with the American flag Mr. President.
Push them. Use their stupidity and their relentless persecution of you to paint them into a corner that will once again allow Americans to see just exactly what kind of "patriots" we're dealing with here.
    Excellent move sir!

And suddenly more funding for security will be a bad idea. Let the spin begin!

why can't the state dept cut out all the money they spent on electric cars and recharging stations instead? they thought that was more important than providing security to our people in benghazi.

this is nothing but more smoke and mirrors and deflection from the incompetence of the clinton state dept and obama white house that got 4 americans killed. the bogus story about the you tube video has proven a sham so now they are falling back to this blatant lie and misdirection.

and the obama smoke and mirror show continues marching on.... when will the lies ever end??? the truth was revealed under oath by his own person. funding was not the problem in benghazi. incompetence and neglect were the problems that were the problem. in short, obama and hillary clinton were the problem.

In testimony Wednesday before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Charlene Lamb, a deputy assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security, was asked, “Was there any budget consideration and lack of budget which led you not to increase the number of people in the security force there?”

    Lamb responded, “No, sir.”

Recall that Lamb is the person who denied requests from the top diplomatic security officer in Libya to retain a 16-man team of military personnel who had been protecting diplomats.

Can you just imagine how big the Obama 2012 landslide over Romney would have been without Benghazi?

Obama's against the increase of any military/defense spending.

    His Sequester proves that.

"And suddenly more funding for security will be a bad idea. Let the spin begin!"

It doesn't really line the pockets of defense contractors and weapons manufacturers the way building something like hundreds of unwanted aircraft, so I'm pretty sure the GOP/Teatrolls have always considered it a bad idea.

Let's see what car thief issa does this time around because as much as he is grandstanding about Benghazi sith his repugs he voted against giving our embassies security money before.
Why doesn't anyone call him out on this? The media really stinks in this country!
I guess that arias murderer is so much more important or it seemed like it for weeks. I don't get this "social media"stuff much nor do I want to!

"So, would he want to increase funding if the past 2 weeks never happend?"

It was in his budget (more than two weeks ago), champ. Thanks for playing.

The reality is that the emails released this week show the GOP/Teatrolls were the ones trying to spin Benghazi into an election-winning narrative. But of course, IOKIYAR. The MSM threw their lot in with the GOP/Teatroll narrative in order to have a controversy that could be perpetuated and sensationalized for ad revenue, so the MSM will work very very hard to avoid having to say that narrative turned out to be backwards. Just look at John Karl...he literally said in his article at the beginning of this that he viewed the emails, but it turns out that all he saw were GOP/Teatrolls staffers' notes. Did he or ABC apologize? No. They defended him and spun it by using some lame semantic-game excuse for why it wasn't a big lie. The rest of the MSM will do likewise because they're in this narrative for a pound, not just a penny.

Like he did in October of 2012, will Chaffetz again say regarding embassy security funding:

"Look we have to make priorities and choices in this country. We have…15,000 contractors in Iraq. We have more than 6,000 contractors, a private army there, for President Obama, in Baghdad. And we’re talking about can we get two dozen or so people into Libya to help protect our forces. When you’re in tough economic times, you have to make difficult choices. You have to prioritize things.”

    Just wondering ...

You really think that the President left those Americans at the consulate/CIA station to die? What purpose would that serve him?

Do you ever really think this stuff through, or do you just spend your days copying and pasting GOP talking points?

Once again: 1. The Sequester Bill was written by House Republicans. 2. It was passed on largely party-line votes. 3.Speaker of the House Boehner said" I got 98% of WHAT I WANTED".
Erdo- it was the Republicans' bill. Stop trying to change settled fact!

@justsayin: "incompetence and neglect were the problems that were the problem. in short, obama and hillary clinton were the problem."

Were you this outraged during the GW Bush Administration when there were 54 attacks on diplomatic targets that killed 13 Americans? These attacks garnered on 3 hearings on embassy security total (compared to the 9 that have been held in regard to Benghazi).

Were you this outraged when George and Dick agreed that they'd only discuss 9/11 behind closed doors, not under oath and without recording devices of any kind?

    Just asking ...

    Just Sayin/Asking-
I think we get that Rush memo on "smoke and mirrors" went out, but don't you read? ABC News now seesm to owe the President an apology, and the GOP got caught (AGAIN!) manufacturing lies and conspiracy two days ago. The Bengahzi thing is dead. It was a lie built by the Right.

@just saying: Follow-up to your outrage:

Were you this outraged about the October 23, 1983 Beirut, Lebanon, barracks bombing killed 220 Marines, 18 sailors and three soldiers (along with injuring 60 Americans)? This attack was the deadliest single-day death toll for the United States Marine Corps since the Battle of Iwo Jima of World War II.

How about earlier that year, were you this outraged by the April 18, 1983 United States embassy bombing again in Beirut, that killed 63 people, mostly embassy and CIA staff members, several soldiers and one Marine. 17 of the dead were Americans. It was the deadliest attack on a U.S. diplomatic mission up to that time,

    Just wondering ...
