IRS official denies intentional political targeting, lying to Congress

Washington (CNN) - A huge increase in workload, rather than deliberate targeting, led to "foolish mistakes" and the political discrimination in the Internal Revenue Service cited by an inspector general's report, the agency's outgoing commissioner said Friday.

The testimony by Steven Miller, who was forced to announce his resignation this week as acting IRS commissioner, came at the first congressional hearing on the matter that has put President Barack Obama's administration on the defensive.

and all of this targeting has been going on through two election cycles in an effort to suppress the vote of the tea party voters.... and then kept under wraps until after obama's election. how convenient is that?! and all the while the left was accusing the republicans of voter suppression while they were up to their necks doing it themselves.

chicago corruption brought to the national stage by the democrats. we have been transformed.

This does not bode well. Democrats on the current situation:

Dave Camp on the IRS scandal:

"I don't think we're [at the point of appointing a special counsel]. At least I'm not there yet. We need to know how and why and certainly try to restore the faith that's been broken and the trust that's been broken as people have been targeted for their political beliefs, which is completely unacceptable."

Max Baucus on the IRS scandal:

"I have a hunch that a lot more is going to come out, frankly. It's broader than the current focus. And I think it's important that we have the hearings, and I think that will encourage other information to come out that has not yet come out. I suspect that we will learn more in the next several days, maybe the next couple three weeks which adds more context to all of this."

Dave Camp on the IRS targeting groups for political reasons:

"Clearly there has been taxpayer confidential information leaked, and potentially for political reasons. And obviously only one political perspective was targeted, so it does seem to have significant political overtones. But we just don't know where this will lead until we take a serious look at it."

This is so reminiscent of the old Soviet Union. The Libs are getting too far ahead of themselves. You are supposed to wait until Communism takes a firm root before you start using these tactics.

This spanned years, not someone's backlog!
The fact that Obama's half-brother got a nod from IRS in a month for his "group", while some conservative groups never did, is very
telling. Someone in Obama's White House, ala Watergate-era, leaned on IRS. As Obama's gray hairs mount, and he has many
This week, The Nation is A Mess !! He should resign and let Biden deal with what he cannot. Otherwise, his inept behavior will
continue to dwindle US as a superpower.
Fundraising and spin are Obama's forte; leadership? No.

Not a word from anyone about the CBO coming out and saying that the budget defict is lower now than it was when Obama took office and is projected to be lower in the coming years.

I remember when all I heard on here was cut the defict over and over. I guess it was time to change talking points.

Again it takes a DEM to fix what a REP breaks.
