White House chief of staff knew of IRS report before its release

Washington (CNN) - New details emerged Monday of what the White House knew about the Internal Revenue Service targeting of conservative groups, with spokesman Jay Carney disclosing Chief of Staff Denis McDonough was among the top officials made aware of the matter late last month.

In a new timeline provided by Carney to reporters, General Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler learned on April 24 of a pending Treasury inspector general's report on how IRS staff used criteria targeting conservative groups in assessing eligibility for tax-exempt status.

    Hard to see how this matters other than to give Teatrolls something to latch onto that they can weave into some irrational conspiracy theory.

    Darrel Issa knew this information way back in July 2012. Why don't you report on that?

    More lies, smoke and mirrors from Obama, who when asked if he or anybody else knew, gave a bogus answer to a question that wasn't asked. Wake up America. The "most transparent President" is actually "the most corrupt, incompetent President".

    "Late last month"

    Don't start, conservatives. Read more than the headline. It's a nonstory.

    Under persistent questioning, Carney insisted that no one - including Ruemmler and McDonough - told President Barack Obama anything about the inspector general's pending report before media reports about it began appearing on May 10.

    but isn't their job to keep obama informed of what the heck is going on in his administration? so obama is ok with being kept in the dark and learning of these things and being blind sided in the news media?? that can't be the case. this story makes zero sense and defies logic. no president that was serious about doing his job would want to be kept in the dark by his underlings so that he could be blind sided by the news media. this just keeps looking worse and worse for obama no matter how you look at it.

    well, well, well,... it didn't take long to reach the door of the white house now did it??? there is no way a couple of low level irs agents decided on their own to start targeting obama political opponents. they need to get these people under oath and find out where their marching orders came from. do people honestly think low level irs agents are going to openly target poltical opponents without being orders and cover from above to do so?

    If people post here working for a 501(c)(4) political organization. You need to let that be known under penalty of law !

    @More Lies, Lies, Lies ?

    It doesn't matter , you will do it anyway !

    "this just keeps looking worse and worse for obama no matter how you look at it."

    Pretty sure the only ones who think that are the ones wearing standard issue turd-shaded glasses and their official Teatroll tinfoil hats. Even if Obama knew a report was coming out about 2 weeks before it was finalized and released, it is essentially meaningless. This is just more MSM using the daily press conference to fish for soundbite controversies instead of asking questions that actually matter.
