Weiner website snafu: Pittsburgh instead of NY

(CNN) - A photo silhouette posted to Anthony Weiner's campaign website sparked conversation online Thursday.

But it wasn't a photo of the former congressman, who is running to be mayor of New York, but instead the skyline at the top of his bare-boned website's homepage.

Several visitors to the site noticed the skyline image looked more like Pittsburgh than New York, and some posted pictures of the Pennsylvania city's skyline to illustrate the similarity.

The site went live around the time of Weiner's late-night announcement on Wednesday. By Thursday evening, it had been replaced with a montage of New York sights.

The marketing firm behind Weiner's website, NGP VAN, released a statement: "the image of the wrong skyline on the placeholder page for the Weiner campaign was our honest mistake, and not that of the Weiner campaign."

"This is our fault," said John Brougher, a vice president at the firm.

Their designer "got the image from a set of images that included New York City images, but obviously this image was not of New York City, as the Weiner campaign had requested. With the image behind a strong blue background, our team did not catch this mistake. The offending image has been replaced, and the placeholder page now uses a New York City image; as will the full website when it launches."

I hope Mr. Weiner's campaign gets reimbursement from this lazy, unprofessional firm. I know I would.

As to Mr. Weiner's mayoral run, Anthony Weiner is no Mark Sanford (and I thank God for that) however, I find him to be extremely immature for a father and man of his age.

Most likely the website design team was from India where they wouldn't know the difference between NYC and Pittsburgh. Nice use of outsourcing there in American politics while the politicos give speeches about job creation.

Politicians , why do they always let some PR firm use there kids , it's not cool .

If he would talk about what he did , how he found help, and help others that are facing the same internet addiction I would support him. I will give him one thing , he didn't play the I talked to god and he forgave me card.
Anthony Weiner has much to give in the way of service to others , however being Mayor of New Your should not be one of them.

Please don't run for mayor , find a different calling !

"Our geek page designer who's never had his head out of his computer monitor, let alone having an appreciation for the differences of major American cities, had to get to his coffee break and still doesn't understand the problem........whatever...........
