Iowa voters say yes to Hillary Clinton

Washington (CNN) - Hillary Clinton has the early edge in a key battleground state, should she choose to run for president in 2016.

Iowa voters picked her as their choice for commander in chief above top potential Republican contenders including Senators Marco Rubio and Rand Paul, in a new survey released Friday.

The Quinnipiac University poll showed Clinton would defeat Rubio by 11 percentage points, 48% to 37%, if the election were held today and would beat Paul by four percentage points, 46% to 42%. She was helped by her strong support among women.

The speculation over a Clinton presidential run is never ending, helped by her consistently high approval ratings, the perpetual campaign cycle and speculation from political operatives and journalists.

While top Democrats, including her husband former President Bill Clinton and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, have encouraged her to run for president again, Clinton herself has consistently said she's focused on enjoying her life after years in the public eye and traveling the world.

Vice President Joe Biden has not been as careful and often jokes about another run at the White House.

But Biden did not fare as well in the same poll. He fell behind Rubio by one percentage point, 39% to 40%, and trailed Paul by five percentage points, 39% to 44%, among Hawkeye State voters. He was hurt by his lack of support among independent voters.

President Barack Obama's win over Clinton and Biden in the 2008 Iowa caucuses helped catapult his White House bid. He went on to win the swing state in the 2008 and 2012 general elections. But Bill Clinton was victorious in the state during both of his presidential elections, in 1992 and 1996.

The poll, conducted between May 15 and May 21, surveyed 1,411 registered voters by telephone and had a sampling error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.

Give it up conservatives, America sees right through your stupid conspiracies. You are already worried and you should be. How about coming up with some new ideas and stop all your obstructionism. Your party just keeps getting more extreme. Bow down some more to Rush and Faux News.

If the Republicans try to go to the POTUS poles with any current candidate they WILL lose the next election too for at least another 8 years. In fact, at 66 years old I doubt I will ever see another Republican POTUS in office. The Republican Party has lost it's way and has not kept up with current events or the needs of the citizens of the USA.

I'm running in 2032 and am leading among freckled-face, left-handed Postal Clerks, with an aunt named Mabel, and more than one pet. What are my chances of being President, CNN? Why not waste everyone's time on me?

Our country continues to elect people based on name recognition and 'coolness' factor (wouldn't it be great to see a woman in the white house? who cares if she'll do a good job...)

Our country will just play hot potato with debt. Whatever party is in control when it hits the fan will be blamed for it, because nobody has the courage to stand up and say 'it's a great program, but we don't have the money for it'

How about someone who has the courage to say "It's a great program and we can find money for it by closing loopholes or raising taxes on the people who can most afford it"? And by "great program" I mean a really great program - one that will affect a large percentage of Americans, that is an investment in our future and that is better - more fairly or more efficiently - done together through government than individually or by the private sector.

I haven't seen that kind of courage from the Republican side of the aisle in quite some time.

Didn't follow the Bush Presidency? No? Perhaps you were either too young, too old or too drunk to remember. Have you ever heard of Wikipedia? Well good!

Accordding to historians and legal scholars, the GWB administration was without a doubt, the most corrupt administration in U.S. history. Just google Wikipedia and decide for yourself...

    -GWB's Warrantless NSA Surveillance/Wiretapping Program
-The 2007 Justice Department firing of 8 U.S. Attorneys
-The Bush White House Email Scandal in violation of the 1968 Presidential Record Act and the 1939 Hatch Act
-The Libby Scandal involving the leaked identitf of CIA agent and Wife of Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson
-GWB's response to intelligence findings by CIA Director George Tenet confirming that Iraq possessed NO WMDs
-Violation of United Nations mission, ejecting UN inspectors from the ground in Iraq prematurely to start a war
-Invading a sovereign country during peace time to start a war
    -Predatory Lender's Partner in crime

Well, that's just a portion of the scandals or Watergate of the GWB administration.

Lets be clear. NOT all responsible/mature Iowa voters support "what does it matter" Clinton. The ones that do must be somewhat delusional after she, in essence, is responsible for the murder of four Américan patriots; along with the Liar-in-Chief, of course!

    @dd

Hillary Clinton did NOT authorize the Benghazi attacks and she did NOT email, text, or call the U.S. military and told them not to go to Benghazi. However GWB failed to defend and protect the U.S. homeland from the 9/11 attacks, he DID authorize the illegitimate Iraqi war, he DID abandon and prolonged the Afghan war to invade Iraq, he DID murder thousands of our troops, he did participate in the Libby Scandal, he DID authorize the Warrantless NSA surveillance program that stored the phone records and personal data of millions of Americans, he was involved in the 2007 US Justice Dept dismissal of 8 U.S. Attorneys, he was involved in the White House Email scandal in violation of the 1978 Presidential Records Act and the 1939 Hatch Act and he did facilitate the Predatory Lender's program that resulted in our economic downfall. Can you please tell me when was GWB ever impeached, prosecuted or detained?
