How McCain's daughter found out her dad was in Syria

(CNN) – Sen. John McCain slipped into civil war-torn Syria Monday to meet with rebels battling Bashar al Assad's regime.

So how did his daughter Meghan learn about her father's visit?

On Twitter, of course.

Meanwhile, one of McCain's top allies on Capitol Hill, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, poked some fun at his friend.

Mouaz Moustafa, with the Washington-based Syrian Emergency Task Force that helped plan McCain's trip, said the Arizona Republican entered Syria through Turkey, and remained in the country for several hours.

While in Syria, McCain met with Gen. Salem Idris, the leader of the Supreme Military Council of the Free Syrian Army. He spent about an hour meeting with Free Syrian Amry commanders from various parts of the country including Aleppo, Homs, and Idlib.

McCain is the leading voice in Congress for a greater U.S. role in ending Syria's civil war, which has been waged for more than two years. He has suggested establishing "safe zones" for Syria's rebels and taking out the regime's air assets, along with providing lethal weapons to Syria's opposition.

How about Meghan McCain making a real statement and enlisting in the military? Her family seems so motivated to get the U.S. in yet another war and after 11 years we need fewer cheerleader and more players. Surely she can find a recruiter near her home!

McCain do us all a favor and stay over there and help them fight. Also call Lindsey Graham and invite him too.

Seems like somebody played war too much as a child.....

I am so sick of the MSM and the GOP, it's hardly even worth commenting anymore.....

Let's hear from the ignorant! He doing this, He's doing that he's doing something else, he's he's

Folks it's fact finding, nothing else, he can do nothing else until he returns and then he can only discuss with the Senate.

It would be appropriate for the justice department to investigate this move by McCain. It seems that there's been a breach of conduct here, that smacks of treason, and ethics violations beyond the scope of any problems heretofore seen from this rogue senator. McCain, needs to be brought down on the carpet for this one.

If we're so broke that social programs need to be slashed, then there's no money for getting involved in another foreign conflict. The very thought of our nation being the policeman to the world is arrogant, and stupid at the same time. Both republican traits to be sure, and not very admirable. Most people like to take care of their own problems, and resent others sticking their noses in where they are not welcome.

Was McCain received by a bunch of flowers? He should not forget there is another "check point", that is in Benghazi. If he means what he says, he should sneak and see the place personally.

In response to Wake Up People: McCain didn't "play" war, he actually did fight in one. He was a Navy combat pilot in Vietnam, where he was shot down and held prisoner for years. Because his father was an admiral he was offered the opportunity to be released (a propoganda move) but turned it down unless everyone he was being held with were released. While I disagree with his idea of providing arms to the Syrian rebels I acknowldge that he is a hero, not a chicken hawk.

So, instead of calling for more support from the floor of the Senate, McCain, who I have tons of respect for, spends thousands upon thousands of taxpayer dollars just to sit in the face of the rebels for a few hours, all at unecessary risk to himself, the rebels, and the American security team members providing him security.....??? Why? Smacks of grandstanding and ego.

None of them can/will accept blame for anything they do wrong just constantly lie and cover up.
Which lately is the status quo.
    Bottom line !
Seems none of them could find their Butts with Both Hands ..

McCain is a wuss who back stabs anyone around him who does not agree with him. Don't ever cross him or you are finished. All he is is a person with a mental problem. Remember plumber Joe? How laughable. A stooge is a stooge is a stooge.

What I see is John McCain negotiating with terrorists. It's been well established that the rebels have ties with terrorists. Im all for overthrowing Syria's president but if we arm the rebels we will be arming the terrorists.

mean while one of his fellow citazen;s from az. is sitting in a mexiacan jail on strumped up charges, he could have gone and retrived one of ours instead of promising funds from american tax dollars that should be spent on programs americans need......makes no sence to fund rebels or fix our roads, the gop will fund war but not fund jobs bill we have been waiting for 5 years, the only checks banks get in the usa are free loans to give more bonus;s out to the rich, if we ever have a gop pres. again i will move out of this once great country.

Will McCain come home and tell us how safe it is in Syria like he did upon his trip to Iraq (when he was surrounded by heavily-armed military and taken to a couple, hand-picked spots)?

BTW, a Syrian rebel who met with McCain reportedly said that it was pretty obvious to him and the other rebels that everything McCain was doing was just to get back at President Obama, describing McCain as a bitter, anger-filled man.

A rebel is quoted to having said in regard to McCain and every time President Obama's name was mentioned, “And we were like, look, that election was five years ago. It’s time to move on.”

"what is obama doing about syria" You really want to be told that he is sending in Seal Team Six, G.I. Joe, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to find all of the "bad guys" and smash them, don't you? Yeah, life's not a movie. I think I mentioned that before about 600 times.

I haven't liked McCain since he told a news reporter he didn't need to answer his question because he was a Senator. He needs to learn that he works for the people and he is no better than any of us. We need to limit politicians time in office to 4 years and no more. It should be a privilege and honor to serve in office not a way to stuff your pockets and be swayed by gifts.
