Conservative group takes IRS, top Obama officials to court

Washington (CNN) - A prominent conservative legal advocacy group will file a lawsuit on Wednesday against top Internal Revenue Service and Obama administration officials, claiming the constitutional rights of 25 organizations were violated when the IRS targeted conservative outfits seeking tax-exempt status.

The Washington-based American Center for Law and Justice will argue in a federal district court filing that the First and Fifth Amendment rights of the organizations were violated by the targeting, according to an ACLJ official. The group will also contend the IRS violated its own regulations, the official noted.

Fair game? Fair is fair compared to what?

100% chance anyone working in this current administration will not go to jail or will be pardon before BHO leaves office.

This administration is good at running out the clock, remember Barry loves basketball. So, he runs his surrogates like basketball players. Pick, roll, shuffle, shift and run out clock to prevent your opponent from winning.

Hillary retired without being held to account for Libya.

Holder stalled on Fast and Furious

Just watch how the DOJ and IRS mess is managed.

I wonder how "politically silent" some of these groups will ultimately be found to be once they get to court and investigators are set lose on both sides?
I'm with Rudy NYC on this one, but I don't think they the 'Tards will "settle" so much as be booted out of court.
Another GOP witch hunt whose objective is to to stymie or completely derail Obamacare.
They are running out of ways to skin this cat...

"100% chance anyone working in this current administration will not go to jail or will be pardon before BHO leaves office."

    1. You start from the premise, entirely unproven, that someone needs to go to jail...and that you know exactly who and what they did to deserve it.

    2. The reality is, if it could be proven, then they would go to jail. The GOP/Teatrolls have not been able to turn that corner on any of their "investigations" yet for a reason: THERE IS NO THERE, THERE.

Pssst: there are no elephants hiding in the strawberry patch, morons.

Go right ahead and take them to court. You'll be exposed for what & who you truly are!!! And that's not a 501c4.

Most of the groups deserved more scrutiny than what they received, and some were approved that never should have been. If you don't believe me, then go visit some of their web sites. The "NorCal Tea Party Patriots" had posted "voter guides" for their member patriots to "take into the voting booths" on Election Day 2012.
Actually, the end result of the scrutiny is that most of the groups were bumped to the head of the line, and GOT APPROVED faster than what they might have ordinarily been. Apparently, someone at the IRS wanted to find a way to expedite applicaitons so that there would not be politically motivated complaints.
Unfortunately, taking a look at many of the conservative applciations revealed patterns of behavior that would disqualify them, so questions were aksed, which is what should have happened. Some folks were using the organizations as private corporations, which paid no income taxes.

There is no way to respond in the post above as just abobut every statement is a lie or misinformation.. Almost all of these groups applications were not acted on in over 3 years and remain unacted on to this date. Rudy NYC really needs to educate yourself because you have shown an absolute lack of knowledge of the facts of the case. Or more likely, just like to spew lies on this board for the usual ill informed lefty to pick up and regurgitate.

Psst. "Fair is Fair" is the name of a right wing poster. Learn to look before you leap.

Hillary retired when she said she would. Considering that she announced her desire to serve only one term two years ago, I doubt that her "retirement" had anything to do with Benghazi. But, if you like conspiracy theories, then here's one sure to rattle your cage. I think some of the same folks Sen. McCain spoke to on his secret trip to Benghaze may be some of the same folks who later attacked the US compound there.

Holder had little or nothing to do with "Fast and Furious". The program began under the Bush administration and Holder had shut it down when he learned of it. No AZ laws were broken. They have a loop hole that allows you to give guns away as gifts, but it also allows you to walk out of gun store and re-sell your new purchases to a guy in the parking lot. No AZ laws were broken.

My question is why does the left/liberal assume the tea party/eighties are tax evading? What proof do they have?
    _______________________
Too Easy. The TEA Party (Taxed Enough Already) IS anti-tax. Want to find a tax cheat? Look at the groups that feel they are "taxed enough already". Seeking 501 (c) 4 tax status means that a group has to be a "social welfare" organization- something that provides value to society. Hello? The TEA Parties paraded around with their guns (and tea bags)on; used racial slurs against the duly elected President of the United States and claimed he wasn't born i America. Does that sound like a "social welfare" organization? What about politicking? 501 (c) 4s are not suppossed to support a particular party or candidate. Being a fully functioning subdivision of the GOP would seem to call that ruse into question. No, in their desire to keep their donors off-the-record, it would seem the TEA Parties committed likely fraud. I applaud the IRS for sniffing these cheats out.

Would you consider Move-On.org as a charity? Anyone investigating them?

What is good for liberal PACs is good for Conservative PACs.

this case is more about the election tampering of the irs and far left. the leftists in the irs used their positions to suppress the tea party vote by keeping these organizations in limbo through two election cycles. this is the largest election tampering and voter suppression case in the hisory of this country. all perpetrated by the far left, all while accusing others of doing it.

    wake up america.

Actually there is a huge probability that this will totally backfire on the Tea Party. When even more scrutiny is put on all of these groups and how much charitable work they really do (or don"t do) they may wish they had never let the genie out of the bottle. If a whole bunch of them are found out to do more than 49% political action work and not enough charitable work, then they can't be exempted from taxes. This will also open debate about the Citizens United ruling and how it has negatively impacted democracy in the US. Be careful what you wish for.

Amazing that people will waste time & or money to sue which a person of average intelligence could read about and conclude it`s a waste of resources.

The "LAW" says that to recieve the "tax exempt status"; these organizations have to be engaing in "social welfare" activities EXCLUSIVELY. I don`t think thes conservatice plantiffs can pass the "smell test" on this point. Hundreds-of-Thousands of 501C4 granted organizations will throw these groups under the bus if their lawsuit brings scrutiny that threatens them all . . . and that`s the risk they face.

Misinformation. Donna, the first group to file, "NorCal Tea Party Patriots" has enjoyed the approval for past two years. Everything I posted can be read online. I dare you. Go visit their web site. View the "2012 voter booth guides" that the dummies still have posted on their web site. Shoo now, go on. I dare you.

All you liberals need to remember the Tea party started this country.

Oh, we forget you like to rewrite history so it looks like British were correct to tax us without representation.

May be we should raise the Union Jack flag over Wash-ing-ton.

@Liberal Sense: OK... but where are the massive scandals? These organizations in the end were not denied their status... even though it appears some should have been denied... And, even though the majority was Tea Party related, my understanding is there were some groups on the left whose applications were delayed too...
