Carney brushes off Issa remark

(CNN) – White House Press Secretary Jay Carney refused to take the bait Monday, declining to respond to Rep. Darrell Issa's scathing blow in which the Republican congressman called Carney a "paid liar."

"I'm not going to get into a back-and-forth with Chairman Issa," Carney said, laughing it off at the daily press briefing.

He then pivoted away from the controversial remark to say the White House is focused on finding all the facts in the Internal Revenue Service scandal.

Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," Issa said Carney was a "paid liar" for the administration for repeating in press briefings the IRS' explanation of how conservative and tea party groups faced scrutiny in their tax exempt applications.

The IRS has attributed fault to the Cincinnati office, where the tax-exempt division is based.

"When I spoke about the situation, I was referring to the findings of the independent inspector general," Carney said Monday.

Robert Gibbs, Carney's predecessor at the White House, called on Issa to apologize earlier Monday on MSNBC. Asked if he wants an apology, Carney said he appreciates "those who have spoken in my defense" but maintained that he's not going to engage the Issa story.

"I am interested in what the president is interested in in this matter, which is we take action to ensure that this activity doesn't happen again, he said. "Those are the things that matter here."

So much for any thought that Issa could conduct an objective inquiry. He blurts out his early conclusion before his committee has completed its work: regardless of the ultimate outcome, he has done himself more harm than good by his remarks.

Jay Carney is a bigger person than Darryl Issa and is actually part of the Administration. However, David Plouffe, Axelrod & Gibbs are not. Time to play dirty with Mr. GTA fellas. Just how much taxpayer money is Issa WASTING on these hearings?

carney has already proven himself a liar with regards to the benghazi talking points and now holder a proven liar about attacking journalists instead of going after the leakers. you could put all of the credibility of the obama administration in a thimble at this point. the more they open their mouths, the more lies that come out, the more the american people see the liars and incompetents running their federal government. i can hardly wait until the 2014 elections.

Carney doesn't have time to play their games. They have real work to do. Something the GOP know nothing about.

CNN, what about the good news we had last week about the economy? Do you even know?

Carney has more class in his little finger than Issa has in his Criminal body. Look up Darryl Issa's criminal record online. Why in the hell is he in government or in charge of any investigation

I am an independant, and quite honestly loathe George Bush for taking the US and our great economy and flushing it down the Iraq crapper, but the lying socialist Commies in the the White House are a tad worse than Bumbling Bush ever dreamed of being.

The problem the Obama administration now has is that so many of their statements have been proven to be out right lies that even their hand maidens in the LSM have abandoned them. Yet these incompetent people continue to spin more lies to try and deflect from the previous lies, thinking people are complete idiots who can't tell when they are being lied to.

And the worse part is that all of this was knpown before the 2012 election and was buried in order to get Obama re-elected. Had the American people had the truth, Obama would be back in Chicago right now.

Carney is a paid surrogate of the Obama administration, eventually the truth will come out and he will look like the fool he is. All chickens eventually come home to roust as stated by Rev. Wright to Mr. Obama during his 2008 campaign.

The media in our country has stopped serving the people long ago. This was just another stupid question to cause controversy. Remember when, during one of President Obama's first press conferences after passing Obamacare where he was explaining more about it, one stupid reporter asked him what he thought about the black college professor who got arrested by the white cop and all we heard for days after on the news was the President's response instead of what he explained about Obamacare. The news can no longer exist without stirring up controversy and sensationalism so this is what we get. We are in real trouble!

Yeah yeah, we know...you're desperate to manufacture a reason, any reason, why the GOP/Teatrolls lost the 2012 election other than having to admit it's because the vast and growing majority of the public has rejected your ideology, your policy platform and your racist, bigoted behavior. Fail to change at your own peril.

They do but it is a tough sell in a country where government freebies, bribes and dependence are valued more than a strong economy and a job. And then when the LSM colludes with the Democrat Party to lie and withold information from the American people that is damaging to their candidate, you get what you have now, a corrupt administration lying and spinning to save their skin once the truth comes out.

But hey, Americans voted for this fiasco so I hope they enjoy what they got. But I must thank Obama for one thing. He has proven far better than any conservative could have, just how ugly, wasteful and dangerous big government can be. Unfortunately, we are doomed to another 3.5 years of this nightmare.
