Bachmann: 2016 is not off the table

(CNN) – Rep. Michele Bachmann, who announced last week she won't seek re-election next year, says she may run for elected office again one day and is not ruling out another presidential bid.

But the Minnesota Republican said her future career in politics is not her top priority at the moment.

"I'm not retiring, I'm not going silent, I'm not quitting my public involvement," she said late Thursday night on Fox News' "Hannity." "In fact I may run for another public office. That could happen. But for right now I'm going to find a different perch in order to be able to weigh in on these matters."

While she said she didn't have a specific plan as of now, she is "wide open and looking."

Discussing her reason for leaving Congress, the fourth term representative said she will have served about the same amount of time as a president would serve–eight years. "And I do think that this is a body that needs to have continual turnover."

Bachmann ticked off a list of what she considers her accomplishments on Capitol Hill and in the tea party movement. Asked about a potential 2016 bid for the White House, Bachmann said "I'm not taking anything off of the table."

"But certainly that's not my number one item that I'm looking at right now," the 2012 GOP presidential candidate said. "I'm in the game for the long haul."

She was not asked about a recent congressional ethics inquiry into the improper transfer of campaign funds. However, Bachmann said last week that was not part of her decision to leave.

Republicans haven't learned a thing about losing. Religious wacko nut jobs are not going to win a thing in the general election. Looks like an Additional 4 years Obama ala Michael Bloomberg style.

She may have the idea it's on the table, but the people that vote will clear that table real quick. What a squirrel.

Wow no way this country will ever move forward with the likes of Michele Bachmann and Sara in the mix, they are jokes and don't know it. Sad thing Is people will still vote for these vagabonds and believe the insanity that spew's from their insane lip's. Time for the Tea Party to fade away and be as dead and forgotten as their beliefs in the flat earth theory.

Please run, Michelle, and drain even more money from people stuck in the 1950's. The rest of us will gladly look towards a brighter future for a better America.

  12. I have to wonder

What is it like to work for her? I mean, are they true believers or is it just people who say "oh yea, Michele, that's another awesome idea." and then pick up their pay check on Fridays. Either way.... that's whack.

Funny that they didn't ask any questions relating to the corruption allegations. Hmmm this smells like a coverup. But when it's a republican it doesn't count, aparantly. I hope she wins the Republican nominations for president, there's no way America is dumb enough to elect her. Hilary 2016.

Even if she doesn't realize it yet ... 2016 is VERY off the table for her. Her political career is finished after she leaves office and i expect her to settle into an eventual high-paid consulting position or Fox News punditry.

Oh, pleeeeaaaaasseeeee let her run in 2016. A walking, talking (not so much thinking) advertisement for what most people don't like about the extreme members of a party.

"I'm not going silent." Perhaps she'd better. You know what they say, it's better to keep silent and let people think you're a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Why can`t she just go away? She has no credibility, she lies, exaggerates, invents facts and is downright nasty, under a disguise of a family Christian values, fiscally conservative person. Hogwash!

She's hoping to follow the Palin model to financial security, nothing more. And, there are enough true believers out there, she'll undoubtedly be worth more in four years than she is now (monetarily speaking). A year ago her net worth was estimated at $3 million. Anyone want to bet she won't be worth (monetarily speaking) two to three times that by November 2016?

  24. National tour director

I'm trying to put the national Michelle for president campaign tour now. Mitt will drive the car and Michelle will be riding in the dog cage strapped to the "roof" shouting "Woof! Woof". Which of course is "dog speak" for "Vote Michelle in 2016!" Not that many people speak "dog" however so this could be problematic but lots of fun anyway.

Not a fan of her .... but she or just about anyone, including the high school dropout across the street could do as well or better than what we have now.

How could she be worse than the arrogant, corrupt and incompetent Mr Obama?
