Bachmann: 2016 is not off the table

(CNN) – Rep. Michele Bachmann, who announced last week she won't seek re-election next year, says she may run for elected office again one day and is not ruling out another presidential bid.

But the Minnesota Republican said her future career in politics is not her top priority at the moment.

"I'm not retiring, I'm not going silent, I'm not quitting my public involvement," she said late Thursday night on Fox News' "Hannity." "In fact I may run for another public office. That could happen. But for right now I'm going to find a different perch in order to be able to weigh in on these matters."

While she said she didn't have a specific plan as of now, she is "wide open and looking."

Discussing her reason for leaving Congress, the fourth term representative said she will have served about the same amount of time as a president would serve–eight years. "And I do think that this is a body that needs to have continual turnover."

Bachmann ticked off a list of what she considers her accomplishments on Capitol Hill and in the tea party movement. Asked about a potential 2016 bid for the White House, Bachmann said "I'm not taking anything off of the table."

"But certainly that's not my number one item that I'm looking at right now," the 2012 GOP presidential candidate said. "I'm in the game for the long haul."

She was not asked about a recent congressional ethics inquiry into the improper transfer of campaign funds. However, Bachmann said last week that was not part of her decision to leave.

– CNN's Ashley Killough contributed to this report.

Sorry Michele.... I think American has taken 2016 off the table for you. Most of us are going to take more than 4 years to forget the stream of craziness that flowed from your mouth the last few years.

She'll first have to bring back all family's millions of untaxed dollars back from Switzerland to finance her campaign. Then get a brain transplant; a platform not built by idiots to run on, then win at least one primary before she says – never mind.

What a joke. She decided not to run for Congress because she was likely to lose in her Republican district. Yet she somehow thinks that her quitting coupled with her 2012 Presidential performance she would stand a better chance in 2016. She is absolutely delusional.

"A different PERCH"? Living in Minnesota, I couldn't agree more, because she symbolizes the coo-coo bird, or maybe the extinct do-do bird. The woman is not real high on the intelligent statement list.

Oh, come on guys. After she realized no one was going to pay attention to her anymore after announcing her retirement from the House, she realized she had to do something to get her back in the news.
And just think – we will have three more years to laugh our collective butts off at her idiotic attempt to win an office that she is completely unqualified for!

OMG – this woman is delusional! She thinks all of her legal problems will just go away by 2016. What happened to ethics in America. Members of Congress have been getting away with crimes for so long, it appears they no longer fear the penalties!

Part of me wants her to stay around for the laugh factor, but she would do herself and the country a favor by going away.

"She was not asked about a recent congressional ethics inquiry into the improper transfer of campaign funds"

That's because Sean Hannity only asks conservatives the "tough questions".

BTW, she had the third worst attendance record in the House of Representatives. One of the 2 with a worse record was Gaby Giffords. She's in congress totally for self-promotion.
