Nah... I don't think so. This is a good debate to have. The left is going to have to cleearly define what they're willing to do to secure the border. The right is going to have to clearly define what they're willing to do with the 12 million already here. There's going to be black eyes for everyone.

A debate is always healthy. A screaming match between unused intellects on both sides benefits no one. What also needs to be defined by the right is what they are willing to pay and what they are willing to sacrifice in order to secure the border. Simply saying "deport them" is not a policy when we have not thought out what forcibly removing them is going to cost us.

they are saying that 40% of the illegals here now are the result of the people overstaying their visas. this will be a problem they need to fix no matter what. it is a problem that can and should be passed seperately. so do the democrats support the round up and deportation of all visa violators after new laws are passed? or are they going to give us the same old story about there being too many of them to deport?

Who is saying that? People throw out numbers and statistics in a blind effort to look informed, but stats without real explanations are meaningless.

The irony is that clearly there is lots around immigration that needs fixed- and that only Congress can do that. There are companies making too much use of cheap illegal labor, there are too many overstaying their visas and disappearing, there are too many born here to illegals or brought here very young- and it makes no sense to send people "home" when all they have known is America.
It is in the best interest of America to make immigration a sane and orderly process, it would be good for the GOP (who have to live down their bozos like Sheriff Arpiao and his Hispanic round-ups in Arizona) in their efforts to deversify their ranks, it would be good for Mexico (and other nations)- and in the end it will make us a better nation.
Don't worry though- even if reform clears the Senate, the House GOP would much rather play to their radical base- ensuring not only that nothing will get fixed, but their party will die- old, white, male and angry.

Prove it. All of the published numbers say that deportations are up, crossing are down, manpower is up, etc. If you're that concerned about it, how about buying one less fighter jet and paying for more border security.

Gotta love the lies in here about Obama deporting so many illegals. Big whoop-dee-do! They set far more FREE than they deport. Obama has told ICE to STOP arresting illegals. He told them to stop enfocring the laws with regards to "Dreamers".

So just what is to say that Obama doesn't like a part of the new law and decides he won't enforce that either? Absolutley nothing. Laws, old or new, are meaningless without people of integrity to enforce them. Obama has no problem going after his enemies and leakers with a vengeance. Illegals? Not interested.

Your proof please. It's not like the numbers are debatable. He's set records every year. Nobody has seriously challenged that fact, not even the whackiest of the Teatrolls in Congress. The numbers are what they are. But hey, if you've got proof to prove them wrong, then please do share it...I'm sure CNN would LOVE to have another "scandal" just like that to sensationalize. What's that? You've got nothing? Thought so.

You libertarians and indignant neo-cons should look at the Gallop Poll dated February 24, 2006, and named ....

"Where Do Americans Stand on the Wiretapping Issue?'

It asks about using this same database to initiate *warrantless* wiretaps and 53% of respondents approved of it.

Who proved that it was a lie? Don't throw out a statement without attempting some supporting evidence, please: you're better than that. That's a flyspeck tactic.

Huge fines for people/companies employing illegals. Remove the reason for them to be here and they will go back home on their own. Then we can secure the border(if they have no reason to cross it, securing it won't cost near as much) and, if necessary, reform our immigration policies. Though I think if we enforce the laws we already have in place, there might not be so much "reform" needed.

Once again, statements without proof, or even a coherent argument. How many did they set free? Where did they set them free? Since when did being a conservative mean operating in the absence of facts that can be independently verified?

Sorry, I don't spend enough time around you and your inane babble about the world for it have an impact. If you have a point to make, point to the source: can you take a break from your disinformation tasks to actually point to pieces and interpret them with some measure of objectivity, or do you lack the integrity to do that-what am I saying, of course you do.

Total joke of a countrys officals, there are at least 30 million illegeals here currently, about 15 million in the southern states of Calif, Ariz, New Mexico & Texas, of the 30 mill 15 million are women who will each have 5 kids minimum making it 187 million plus the other 15 millon men making it 202 million in 1 generation, or about 500 million in 2 generations. Do the math , the cheap labor advocates certainly have, as it makes no difference to them as they wont be taking any of thier jobs
