Guess who's back at Fox?

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will return to familiar ground.

The Fox News Channel announced Thursday that Palin will rejoin the network as a contributor, less than five months after the two parted ways.

Viewers will start seeing Palin on their screens again Monday, chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement.

He added that he had several conversations in recent weeks with Palin about the possibility of her rejoining as a contributor.

"I have great confidence in her and am pleased that she will once again add her commentary to our programming. I hope she continues to speak her mind," he said.

Known for her outspoken and folksy demeanor, Palin was often considered a ratings goldmine.

Palin said in the statement she was "pleased and proud" to return the network.

Fox and Palin split in January, after the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee turned down an offer to renew her contract that ended in 2012, a source close to Palin told CNN.

The departure came after the two had hit a few rough patches. Since leaving Fox, Palin kept a relatively low profile, appearing at only a few major conservative gatherings.

Shortly after it became public that Palin was leaving Fox earlier this year, she said in an interview published by the conservative news outlet Breitbart that she wanted to share her message "more broadly" rather than "preach to the choir."

"The message of liberty and true hope must be understood by a larger audience," she said.

Palin had not been exclusive to Fox television properties. Palin and her family also starred in a one-season reality show – "Sarah Palin's Alaska" on TLC – and Palin appeared as a featured "guest host" on NBC's "Today Show." She spoke to CNN moments after casting her ballot in the Alaska Republican primary last March.

Her family has found their way onto other media properties: her daughter competed on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" and taped a reality-style show, Lifetime's "Life's a Tripp."

- CNN's Ashley Killough and Kevin Liptak contributed to this report.

Just like rubbernecking at a traffic accident, some folks just can't stare enough at the trainwreck.

Also I love how some posters here comment about how she's upsetting the 'libbies', etc.
Independents think she is a joke too, but we love having her in the mix because she defines 'unelectable' and even her endorsements have become political suicide. Voters have figured out that winning a primary is a guaranteed lose in the general if she is anywhere near the candidate.

I still maintain crazy conservatives (particularly ones with broadcast shows) help the Democratic party more than hurt - they keep the Republican party chasing ideals that hurt their chances of winning state and national elections and they help promote unelectable candidates. So I say a hearty "welcome back" Ms. Palin. The Democratic party needs you.

    Hey ratherbboating,

Not all here are liberal, socialist misogynists, despite your polarized, black-and-white view of the world.

I happen to be a Christian conservative who has almost always voted Republican, and I think Sarah Palin is a walking, talking disaster. It makes no difference that she's a woman; she's an idiot. I would rather Hilary Clinton in the White House, by a large margin. I don't agree with Clinton's politics, but she's no floozy.

Besides, if you're a conservative who hates it when people bash Palin, what exactly are you doing on CNN anyway?

So if she is going to be back in the FOX studios, who is going to be watching Russia from her front porch? Someone needs to keep an eye on those guys........

What with many calling and believing FOX broadcasting is primarily republican, this is interesting for FOX. I often watch FOX and Friends Saturday but that may change.
It will be interesting to see if she sticks to her MO of basic randomness.

The more she speaks the more she hurts the chances that the republican party can capture the White House. FOX should have stayed with the status quo and let this mental misfit drift off into obscurity.

Oh Lord, is she still around boring us out f our minds with her warped view of this world? Fox is really scratching the bottom of the pot and it ain't stainless steel either. Can't they find a commentator with brains? And, no, I am not a liberal, not a democrat and not foaming at the mouth but seriously folks at Fox, is there no one else you can find?? It is hard to believe. Maybe it is time to change management over at Fox and get some new blood to make the calls. It is just unbelievable that I even have to comment here. Please, please respond to me at my e-mail address If you have anything to say. I am usually not reading the follow up comments here.

Paraphrasing the Bard on pretty much everything that comes out of her mouth: "it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

Seriously. There are a lot of bright, coherent, women on the Conservative side. Why do we keep getting doses of this self serving, irrelevant, ditz?

I guess this is the makeover the GOP is looking for? I really want to hear the legitimate and intelligent arguments from the right I really do but they keep parading these clowns out front. I lean left only because the right refuses to drop the games and rhetoric and get serious. Not that the left is any better but it is slightly more tolerable.

Palin's hypocrisy and lack of intelligence fits in well with FOX "News".

Another colossal step backward for the Republicans. Unintelligent, aloof, obtuse, and a quitter - just the attributes that out-of-touch party thinks it needs to further its ever-unpopular agenda.

Ahhhh . . . more compassionate diversity from the 'enlightened' liberal/progressives. "If you don't obey us you are not even a woman!" Such humanity! The Democrat party really cares for women . . . . . until 1 disobeys them!!!!
