IRS also targeted progressive groups

Washington (CNN) - The Internal Revenue Service targeted liberal groups as well as conservatives seeking tax-exempt status, a Democratic congressman charged on Monday after the agency acknowledged the inappropriate practice continued until last month.

Rep. Sander Levin said the term "progressives" was included on IRS screening lists of applicants for tax-exempt status made available to Congress on Monday.

What's the ratio of liberal groups to conservative ones that got extra scrutiny, and was the scrutiny the same as the TeaTroll groups got? Interesting to see what the answers to those questions are. I have a feeling there is a bunch of righteous indignation on the right that is about to be made to look preposterous.

I applaud the IRS for scrutinizing ANY political group that has applied for preferential tax exempt status. The law says that this status is to be granted for organizations that engage EXCLUSIVELY in social welfare activities. Sounds to me like the IRS was doing their job. Congressmen second guessing / quarterbacking these dedicated employees is reprenhensible when they are simply applying the law. I`d like Darrell Issa to tell me what law was broken and if he can`t I`d like to know why he is wasting taxpayer money when even the casual observer knew to apply that test as the 1st gate before expending resources. I thought Republicans were so fiscally responsible managers. HA . . . what nonsense!

Knew it wouldnt take long before the GOP faithful would be out denying the same info that targeted Conservative groups. Another witch hunt down the drain for the pathetic GOP. They GOP is batting "ZERO" so far since Obama second term.. Keep living in the bubble. LMAO.

So there was no singling out of Tea Party groups, and led by Obama and his administration? Of course there wasn't, but don't expect the Conservatives to admit they were wrong. Another scandal they will not be able to use in 2016 though, which is what matters.

And another GOP faux-scandal bites the dust. A bunch of bureaucrats at the IRS were using questionable practices, but the story line that Obama was personally using the IRS to persecute the Tea Party just isn't holding up.

Hear that? No, that's not a practice run for the July 4th fireworks display. That's Teatroll heads exploding all around the country.

"I have a feeling there is a bunch of righteous indignation on the right that is about to be made to look preposterous."

But it's all they have left...faux outrage and self-righteous indignation...must we take that from them too?

    I say yes.

    Ppppppspssssssssssss......
The sound of the air coming out of Issa's trumped up BS 'investigation'. You know, the one where he said the orders came right down from the White House (and now we are going to prove it). This is just another in a long line of situations where the republicants blow some meaningless nothing into some grand conspiracy. FAUX news then adds 'gate' to the end of it and here we gooooo....
Now let's watch the conservative bunch get on here and spin this to (all together now) 'the liberal media'.

  12. The NRA is a T e r r o r i st organisation....and MORE JOBS has been created under President Obama 2times over than under GW Bush!!! ***FACT***

This is one part of the "NEWS" that was largely IGNORED by the lame stream media!....ofcourse our crybaby Tea Party was wah wah wah all over the place like they are the ONLY victim here!....since when do the IRS not scrutinize over tens of thousands of political groups ALL applying for TAX EXCEMPT STATUS at the same time when the source of their foreign donations is NOT disclosed?

Do you want Karl Rove GPS that wasted $100 millions of foolish millionaires money to be granted TAX EXEMPT STATUS...or Sheldon Andelson wasting $100 millions dollars of his own money to be granted TAX EXEMPT STATUS?!!!!

THINK AMERICA...dont just listen to FAUX NOISE!!!!!!!!

Oh no ... is that the sound of 10,000 Tea Baggers crying in their panties?

You mean this wasn't some big Ronnie Raygun conspiracy, and was really just an agency doing what we pay it to do?

Come on TeaBaggers – stop crying. The story is over. Why don't y'all head over to the Paula Dean story – it's a terrible thing for America.

"This is just another in a long line of situations where the republicants blow some meaningless nothing into some grand conspiracy."

Well, to be fair, let's be accurate: this is not a meaningless nothing. The problem the GOPers/Teatrolls have and have had for the past several years while throwing their tantrums is that they desperately want things like this to be something they're not. Instead of addressing this head on as the management and systemic failures it indicates AND addressing the serious substantive problems with the laws and 501(c)(4) regulations that are allowing obvious political groups get tax-exempt status while spending millions on advertising telling people to vote in a certain way (and could anything be MORE political than that?), they tried to make it about a conspiracy that Obama is using the IRS to hound political adversaries. It was a giant weapon of mass distraction. Now, instead of the whole country focused on the problems with our laws and the problems with IRS behavior that those poorly constructed laws were creating, people are focused on a NONTROVERSY based on conspiracy BS that is about to get completely obliterated. When THAT goes away, how much do you want to bet that the public will and MSM attention shifts to the REAL problem with the 501(c)(4) tax exemption standards? Yeah, no chance at all...which is sad...because it means these political groups will continue to ride the tax-exempt political activity gravy train because they can offer these millionaires secrecy in their donations.

Oh, so "progressives" were on the list as well.

Maybe I should throw a Hissy-Fit like Issa.

Maybe I should demand a hundred million dollars worth of congressional hearings.

Or maybe we should just get the IRS lower level managers to stop this practice.

So we get a two paragraph article from Dana Bash, Beltway media courtesan for the White House, claiming that progressive groups were targeted but no mention of how many in comparison to conservative groups and no actual sources or data, just a murkey reference to "congressional sources"? CNN sockpuppets continue to be a joke.

It's always annoying when the administration takes so long to manufacture data to hide or dismiss scandals.

according to a tax masters article, liberal groups and groups classified as other were approved of a lot less when compared to conservative groups.

Which "progressive" groups got extra scrutiny? Why are just NOW hearing about the fact they exist? How many of the "progressive" groups had applications delayed? How long were they delayed for?

    You know,
    Who?
    What?
    When?
    Where?
    How?
    Why?
