Did Texas abortion bill pass? Confusion marks end of session

(CNN) – The Texas legislature's special session ended in chaos and confusion early Wednesday, with uncertainty lingering over whether lawmakers had voted on a bill that would have greatly restricted abortions in the state.

Well after a midnight deadline, it wasn't clear if the legislation had been voted on and whether it had passed. Senators could be seen talking on the Senate floor.

Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis tried Tuesday to block the abortion bill by attempting a 13-hour filibuster, but appeared to fall short after 10 hours when the chairman ruled she had gone off topic.

Birth control and sex education are far cheaper to reduce abortion. Any exceptions including rape, incest, even ectopic pregnancies are pro choice. There is a difference between elective abortions and medically necessary, where the criteria is to allow for these are not what is being considered. What is being considered is the indoctrination of no practical matter to the rights of the people. I don' want to pay for an elective abortion anymore than I want to cover the costs of the birth and subsequent care.

I see change coming and the power and magnitude is far greater than any human nature can comprehend that change has a great and mighty force to be beyond mans ability to turn around what he created

Notice in the background stands a man, not paying any attention to anything this woman says. Yet, the law in question is an unjust law to all freedom loving women in the state of Texas, and the nation. And he fails to listen. Go figure.

How long will people fool themselves just to deny being responsible? We note that granny has access to morning after pill, but does not need it granny has honor! What we do, we are responsible for! Not others that Abortion wants to place on all Americans!

she is doing this to continue the murder of innocent babies??? i hope she collapses and is offered no medical treatment. then she can begin to feel a bit of what it is like to be helpless and needing medical attention, like a baby. stop the democrat genocidal war on babies in this country.

I really wonder what these social conservatives focus so much on abortion. It really makes me wonder if they want them all born just because. If they really want to have all the children born, then they should make sure that there is a support system to make sure that the children are raised well.

It's good to see women fighting back against the GOP Jihad that's been waged against women.

I knew they would win this battle. I have never in my life, seen such a low down effort, to steal the constitutional rights of Texas women by the GOP. One tea party, state sen. didn't even know the difference between the abortion pill and the morning after pill, you know the one that prevents hundred's of thousands of abortions every year ? They are making life and death decisions for Women and they don't even know what they're talking about. The female Republican, who created the legislation, stated that if someone is raped or pregnant by incest, that they should use a rape kit to terminate the pregnancy. These are the people making these laws. Flat out, embarrassing.

The greatest threat to the pro-choice camp isn't the GOP; it's technology.

As the ability to sustain a conceived "fetus" outside a natural womb continues to advance, it's going to be pretty troublesome trying to argue that it doesn't deserve the same rights as someone who's on temporary life support.

Conservatives are too distracted to even realize what technological advances could do for their platform. Just another thing holding them back.
