Meh, our own Congresscritters won't even countenance building much-needed power plants in the USA. It would be seen as "helping Obama". You can forget it, Tanzania.

does obama think electricity grows on trees? so are we now going to build 10,000 new power plants in africa? and they are going to burn what? and where are all these poor countries going to get the money to build them and supply them with fuel? are we going to pay for that too? obama is nothing but an empty suited wind bag throwing stuff out there that he doesn't have a clue on how to accomplish, or what the cost will be. he is as clueless as ever.

But securing our southern border is simply not possible? Not worth doing? Incredible.

How dumb can one become? It's called economic trade. You know, where US companies sell products directly to other governments. Only a total ideologue would assume/accuse Pres. Obama was giving away power plants.

You must be talking about Speaker Boehner. Not only can Boehner not pass his own bill, but he's promised to block the bill that was passed in the Senate, which had strong bipartisan support. You're right. That's incredible.

The Senate bill doubles down on border security agents and your party is still against it. No one to blame except yourselves.

NEWS FLASH...There IS SUNLIGHT in Africa, there is HYDRO POWER in Africa, there is WIND in Africa, and I am pretty sure there is NATURAL GAS in Africa. The problem with focusing on ONE thing "coal" is you forget about other options. One of the great things about starting new is you can begin with anything you want and with the beginning of the GLOBAL WARMING we are witnessing I am hoping that African attempts to use the newer technologies where ever practical.

hahahaha!!!! we've had trade for a hundred years with these countries. electricity isn't new idiot. if they wanted to buy power plants and pay for them they could have done so long long ago. they can't afford it, their countries are backward and do not have the supporting infrastructure and let's face it, those mud huts are not easy to wire.

only a leftist fool would try and tell people obama was talking about trade and not some government paid for plan to get electricity to all the mud huts in africa.

They want proof that it is being enforced and works before granting anybody amnesty and citizenship. You see, the Democrats have snookered the country before and lied to us. All of these illegals were not supposed to be here because the border was supposed to already be secured after the amnesty in the 80's.

Sorry, we are falling for the same Democrat lies again. You have all already proven you refuse to enforce this nations immigration laws. Why should anybody believe you will enforce any new laws? Democrats have already proven themselves liars in this matter.

Fine! Don't pass it. I can see republicans losing mass elections in the very near future. BTW, who signed that 80's bill into law?

They also cannot tell us how to measure that "proof". Reagan and the Republicans pushed for amnesty in the 80's. Bush, Sr said employers no longer needed to send the I-9 Form to the IRS with the W-2 Form for new hires.

It was Bush, Jr. who said that employers no longer needed to keep the I-9 Form on permanent file because it was such a terribly heavy burden on small businesses. Businesses could now throw it away after three years, which is when the flood gates of undocumented immigrants really opened up.

Why do I get the distinct impression that all Obama really wants to do in office is to seek out cheering and adoring crowds that want to treat him like a celebrity? That is all he has done here in the US and when his polls start tanking here, he goes abroad to satisfy his narcicism. And all the time, at our expense. 5 years and counting with very little positive results to show for it. We have become a nation of idiots if we allow this to happen for another 3 years.

Not true. Power plants are one of those products that are a restricted export.

The "usual suspects" do not want President Obama to spend a nickel creating opportunities for us or for the host country overseas. No help to anyone including Americans.
I wonder what they think of Duhbya's efforts and expenditures in Africa. He's there now guys with our President.
I would say you're too hateful for words but you're not, just plain stupid, and liars to boot.

hey MISTER truth hurts but reality bites- THE MONEY promised by Democrats can be shut off by Janet Napolitano. So the promise to spend more money to protect the boarder is just a carrot to get the Repulicans to go along with the bill .

But many African nations lack the technology to build products to that use alternative forms of energy. In many cases, the nations lack the raw materials to build the high technology products. No one talks about mines in Africa that extract ores and minerals because they're quite rare. Most of the resources on the continent are carbon based. It's not big on metals, probably due to the lack of abundant mountain ranges.

Yes, let's give $7 billion in taxpayer funds, combined with $9 billion in private investors (read: Obama supporters) so the Africans can experience first hand the green energy boondoggle that Obama has foisted upon the United States. What is the Swahili word for "Solyndra"?

Now I've heard everything. When Congress decides to spend "X" number of dollars on new fighter jets, some department head cannot decide, "I'm buying pizza, instead."

The fact that there's 12 million illegal aliens in this country is a reflection of the federal government's inability to address the problem with any sense of competence. Why should we believe that they will come up with a workable solution now, given their abyssmal performance to this point?

We shouldn't believe that a rational solution is possible because the right wing prefers the status quo, cheap labor to break the backs of unions.

Maybe Obama can swing by Egypt while he's over there and straighten out the mess he created?! And then go to Libya and tour the site where four Americans died due to the incompetence of his administration. And then stop by Syria to see how well his leading from behind is doing. Ooops, all this would be work and would harsh his vacation mellow. Nevermind.
