White House petition backing Tesla hits 100,000 signatures

New York (CNNMoney) – Tesla has been battling auto dealerships around the country in its effort to sell cars directly to consumers. Now, the White House will have to weigh in on the fight.

A petition on whitehouse.gov in support of the electric-car maker reached 100,000 signatures Tuesday, crossing the threshold required to earn a response from the Obama administration.

Oneline voting can be manipulated easily. They ignore what they want anyways so there's no point to it.

    Propaganda is all.

If it hurts the consumer..........Obama will support it.

Ask yourself, how will you get any service, without dealers??????

So, Cali- what about the issueat hand? Anyone who has bought a car would probably love to pass on the "dealership experience" and buy direct. Seems like that would be a good ol' competitive measure that would benefit consumers.

That will get rid of the middle man and reduce the price of the car.

The administration will have to be carefully neutral in their response. After Obama bailed out GM and touted the Volt the republicans have accused the Volt of being everything short of a communist plot.

Looking forward to hearing small-government conservatives bemoan Tesla's attempt to sell cars directly to consumers without being forced to sell through dealerships via GOVERNMENT MANDATE.

California..have you ever looked at the site. It shows the initial of the person, the date it was signed, and their location in the U.S. What I find amazing is the White House set the number at only 100,000, in a population of 300 million. Americans LOVE to complain but they seldom participate, if they had set it at 200,000 nothing probably would have gotten initiated.

By the way, I voted FOR Telsa on the petition. They should be able to seldom their product direct to their customer.

I guess you've never gone to the website and signed a petition.

But you will complain that YOU weren't petitioned.

Get with the 21st century, or don't complain when the rest of us leave you out there alone. And I know you have a computer or Iphone or you would NOT be reading this.
