(CNN) - Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney donated $5,200 to his former running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, on June 3, helping to bring Ryan’s second quarter haul to a total of $1.1 million.
Even before he was on the ballot to be vice president, Ryan has always been a top fundraiser in Congress. However, he became a household name thanks to Romney, who featured him heavily in events throughout the 2012 presidential campaign season.
The House Budget Committee chairman now has $2.2 million on hand, according to his campaign filings with the Federal Election Commission.
While the Romney-Ryan ticket may not have won the national election, Ryan won re-election to his U.S. congressional seat in Wisconsin last year by 55% to 43%. If his fundraising numbers hold steady, Ryan should have a considerable advantage in future races.
