Bachmann wants to 'spank' Obama

(CNN) – She tried to run against President Barack Obama as last year's GOP nominee.

But with that dream dashed, Rep. Michele Bachmann has another idea.

"He has a perpetual magic wand, and nobody's given him a spanking yet and taken it out of his hand," the Minnesota Republican told WorldNetDaily. "That's what Congress needs to do. The way we spank the president is we do it through the checkbook."

She was speaking to the conservative website about the ongoing battle over comprehensive immigration reform. The "magic wand" she refers to is the power to implement executive actions, like the one taken by Obama last year to defer deportations of young undocumented immigrants who were brought here by their parents.

A bipartisan immigration reform bill passed the Senate last month that included a pathway to citizenship, which many Republicans, including Bachmann, regard as "amnesty."

As the push for immigration reform slows in the House, Bachmann warned fellow opponents of a pathway to citizenship that resistance in the lower chamber may not hold up under pressure from GOP leaders who she said were sold on an "amnesty bill."

"The only game in town is legalization, for President Obama and for Senate Democrats. They want that legalization status," Bachmann, who will not run for re-election in 2014, said.

She suggested using Congress' ability to allocate funds to reject Obama's priorities, including the Affordable Care Act.

"We have the power of the purse," she said. "The most powerful body in Washington D.C. is the House of Representatives, which I'm honored to be a part. We're the ones that say, 'No, you can't have the money.' What's wrong with us? What is wrong with us that we would give the president ten cents to fund Obamacare?"

Bachmann and the GOP are good at cutting back government even to taking away food stamps from the needy. Repealing Obamacare has been the GOP's only job besides anti-abortion bills. I realize Obamacare may be costly and tough to implement but it is one of the only solutions to the status quo where millions are uninsured or underinsured. Affordable healthcare is what this country has needed for decades. Why would the GOP think that the status quo is the best system of healthcare in the world? Who exactly is benefiting? Many who are insured would tell you they are paying way too much out of pocket and those who are sick would tell you they are close to or at bankruptcy.

Why would you fund Obamacare? Um, because it's the law and you're elected to uphold the law. The sooner you folks figure out how this whole "elected officials" thing works, the better chance you'll have at ever getting elected again.

She is 100% right. From the headline I had hoped she was referring to impeachment.

Stop printing what she says! It's time to stop giving stupid equal time. It's not really equal when you look at it.

It's disgusting that these tea partiers show so little respect for the President of the United States. In decades of voting, I have never enrolled in a party, have voted my conscience and for candidates of both parties, and have always respected those in office. I have seen generations of Americans disagree politically but show respect for our system. And now this self-serving blowhard gets media attention with stunts that rile up the hatred troops. She should try living in another country and would likely find herself jailed or beaten in an alley for her behavior.

Wouldn't it be great for the country if nuts like this actually worked to better the country and not agaisnt the best interests of 98% of the country. She is the one that needs the "woodshed" treatment and then she can go back to whatever she is qualified to do, e.g., Walmart greeter.

She's not helping the GOP change their image of "The Stupid Party" as Republican Bobby Jindal complained about so accurately not long ago.

Rep. Bachmann demonstrates, once again, that 1) she is morbidly narcissistic, and 2) is severely psychologically imbalanced.

I mourn for the apathy of the voters of my home state (lived there ~50 years), who elected her in the first place, and have chosen to not recall her. My home state has shifted radically in a negative and destructive way. Imagine Hubert H. Humphrey looking at where Minnesota is today. I suspect he would have a stroke.

Rep. Bachmann needs to go away, sequestered from the general population. Her sociopathic conduct is a giant blemish on humanity. Rep. Bachmann – please go away.

What a hopeless twit. The GOP has become the party of stupid, courtesy of people like Palin, Bachmann, Santorum, Perry and Cruz.

It's ridiculous that people would listen to a sociopath like her.

If the GOP doesn't remove the coo-koos, then the democratic party will continue to clean their clock. The same can be said for the outdated NAACP and Jesse Jackson (please don't call him Reverend, he's not). The time has come to get the dinosaurs out of the politic spotlight. Let's look and see if there is any intelligent life in Washington DC.
