Bachmann wants to 'spank' Obama

(CNN) – She tried to run against President Barack Obama as last year's GOP nominee.

But with that dream dashed, Rep. Michele Bachmann has another idea.

"He has a perpetual magic wand, and nobody's given him a spanking yet and taken it out of his hand," the Minnesota Republican told WorldNetDaily. "That's what Congress needs to do. The way we spank the president is we do it through the checkbook."

She was speaking to the conservative website about the ongoing battle over comprehensive immigration reform. The "magic wand" she refers to is the power to implement executive actions, like the one taken by Obama last year to defer deportations of young undocumented immigrants who were brought here by their parents.

A bipartisan immigration reform bill passed the Senate last month that included a pathway to citizenship, which many Republicans, including Bachmann, regard as "amnesty."

As the push for immigration reform slows in the House, Bachmann warned fellow opponents of a pathway to citizenship that resistance in the lower chamber may not hold up under pressure from GOP leaders who she said were sold on an "amnesty bill."

"The only game in town is legalization, for President Obama and for Senate Democrats. They want that legalization status," Bachmann, who will not run for re-election in 2014, said.

She suggested using Congress' ability to allocate funds to reject Obama's priorities, including the Affordable Care Act.

"We have the power of the purse," she said. "The most powerful body in Washington D.C. is the House of Representatives, which I'm honored to be a part. We're the ones that say, 'No, you can't have the money.' What's wrong with us? What is wrong with us that we would give the president ten cents to fund Obamacare?"

Maybe Governor McDonnell can use his ideas about women's rights to find her brain.

It's not amnesty...the immigrants will have to jump through hoops to even begin to apply for citizenship. But if they make it through that, those people will still be far more worthy of being citizens than Bachmann could hope to be.

I would love to see running for GOP Presidential candidate: Bachman, Palin, Perry, and Trump. It would be a laugh-a-minute! Better yet all four in a debate with Glenn Beck moderating. I would pay top dollar to sit in that audience.

Agreed. I am Republican, and these right wing whackjobs like Bachmann need to STFU... NOW. She is a toxic, destructive voice to the Republican Party – as are all the Tea Party Nazis – and all they are doing, is helping the Democrats.

How about the House cut the NSA's funding for spying on citizens? Or does actual patriotism not matter these days, and all that does is screaming matches based around "morality"?

  18. Former Republican, now an Independent

Michele Bachmann is representative of the real problem in Washington. It is the modern day fanatics that have destroyed the republican party.

Rep. Bachmann has done very little to get his country moving again. She ran for the Republican nomination for President and lost. She has a long history of getting facts wrong which is very upsetting to many people. The best thing she could do would be to quietly go back to Minnesota.

What has she done of any value in the House? Nothing! All she does is talk crap about Obama and appears on faux news to talk more nonsense. What a waste of my tax dollars for her pay to do nothing!!
