Washington (CNN) – When Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed some of the country's toughest abortion restrictions into law on Thursday, his state joined a growing number of those strategically pushing the limits of federal abortion rights that have been in place for 40 years.
"In signing House Bill 2 today, we ... cement the culture of life, which Texas is built upon," Perry said during the signing ceremony. "Children do deserve the respect of simple recognition before their lives are cut tragically short."
And the GOP/Teatrolls' war on women continues apace...
In other words, the religio-fascist GOP/Teatrolls are hoping that the conservatives on the SCOTUS will behave like activist judges.
"The budget will also make it more difficult for family planning groups in the Buckeye State to obtain funding for preventive care."
It makes no sense to me to make it MORE difficult for low income family planning groups to obtain preventive care including birth control care funding for those willing to use it as a precaution against pregnancy.
Oh, well. Who am I to argue with GOPerville leadership who have "Gods hand" writing the law of the land ... or should I say .... State.
Culture of live in Texas? What culture? Cows? And storms? If it wasn't for the oil Texas would just be a big empty wasteland of nothing.
Now the oops governor is selling Texas to other states claiming that they don't have regulations as so many other states. Is that why try have o many industrial accents and deaths. Let's not go into how proud they are that try just killed ther 500 prisoner. Did he ever sell that ranch of his or at least rename it?
Why do rethugs hate women?
You can just HEAR the votes draining away from the Talib... er, GOP!
republicans all-ways leader backwards to the good old days and coat hangers
IF (as Perry claims) this is about a "culture of life", and a "respect for children", why do Republicans do incredibly cruel things like cutting school lunch programs, gutting education spending, cutting Food Stamps? Why do they try to make life so hard for the worst off? The Red States are the bastion of low educational attainment, lower wages, higher crime and overall greater misery. Never mind their pro-war, pro-capital punishment, or "guns for everyone" positions.
The GOP doesn't care about life- that's just hogwash.
ROE never had a Abortion. Also Roe Is Pro Life.
Christian Conservatives have led me to loathe organized religion. While I remain spiritual, I have to ask, why do I need a middle-man (the church) between me and my maker? Religion and spirituality should be a personal thing, practiced within the confines of one's own personal space. Organized religion has become far too intrusive, and it's the leading cause of global conflict and civil unrest. Keep religion out of politics! Or better yet, if you insist upon living under Theocratic rule, move to Iran.
Govenor once they a born please make sure their lives are not cut short because of poverty and lack of prenatal care and health care.
Hey, quit complaining. You Voted for the republicans. You swallowed the Kool-Ade. Now go to your little part of the country, and live with you decision. If you had cared about your freedoms, your personal lives, and your ability to earn an income, you'd have done something different, but you didn't.
