‘Stop Hillary’ group ramps up anti-Clinton efforts

Washington (CNN) - Hillary Clinton may or may not run for president in 2016, but the conservative effort to derail her potential candidacy is already underway.

Iowa poll: Who wins a Clinton-Christie 2016 showdown?

The organizers behind Stop Hillary PAC, a political action committee quietly incorporated in May, are stepping into public view this week as they ramp up their efforts to harangue Clinton as she mulls over her political future.

On Monday, the PAC is announcing its leadership team, steered by Ted Harvey, a conservative Colorado state senator who was a vocal opponent of the recent gun control laws passed in the state.

Also coming on board are Garrett Marquis, a media strategist and alumnus of John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign; Alex Shively, a former aide to Georgia Rep. Tom Price; Jacob Leis, a Colorado-based political strategist; and Dan Backer, a Washington attorney and lobbyist.

Those aren’t the most prominent names in Republican politics, but according to Marquis, that’s just fine. The PAC and its messaging are designed to appeal to grassroots conservatives and low dollar contributors, not traditional big donors.

Put another way, the group wants to be a boisterous party-crasher as the 2016 campaign gets underway, ginning up controversy and online contributions with barbed attacks against Clinton. To start, the PAC is releasing a video later this week “that will get a lot of attention,” Marquis promised.

Former top Obama campaign aides to advise Clinton effort

The organization’s plans to “Stop Hillary” are admittedly scattershot in these early stages of the race. Their portfolio could include “bracketing” events at Clinton appearances around the country, or local TV and radio ads, or social media efforts. If Clinton does decide to run for office, the PAC will be in Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina waiting for her.

The point, Marquis said, is “to make noise” wherever Clinton goes.

“We’re supporting anything that is the opposite of Hillary,” he said. “We will play however needed, wherever Hillary is playing. If she endorses in the Virginia governor’s race, we will go there. Assuming she is active in Iowa, we will be there, too, and we will make some considerable noise.”

Clinton opponents plan donor meeting in New York

The group is separate from “Stop Hillary 2016,” a project initiated last month by America Rising, a new opposition research outfit helmed by former Mitt Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades and a pair of former Republican National Committee officials.

deltarose: your comment is the perfect example of your party's sick mindset......."Hilary is an evil socialist/communist dirt bag. She's as crooked and rotten as the day is long. All she ever cared about was her own narcissist self, power, money, and feeling of importance. God help us if she should get anymore power! I don't know if she is the same or, worse than the socialist/communist/anti Christian in office now!"

I see a lot of liberal, low informed voter types here. Funny I have to say. She is a progressive socialist. The very things that have drained our economy are the verythinds she supports. Do you buy a brand new pair of shoes when you have no food to eat? That is what the progressive socialist do. When need healthy foods,Not Monsanto/ConAgra/ Bayer GMO, cancer causing crap. Yet what are the Progressive Socialist supporting? Healthcare Reform that does nothing to decrease the healthcare costs and costing 10X the amount the convinced the tax payers. Illegal immigrants (Yes, I said that... Call it what it is) amnesty that does nothing to improve the job market for legal citizens and will end up costing tax payers even more in welfare funding. $23,500 to deport / $42,000 to keep them here illegally now, more costs if they become legal. People make comments that are missing facts. Hillary does not support America, she supports the UN. Pushing to instill UN laws even if it violates are most basic rights. Such are the freedom of speech, religion, & self protection as well as the freedom from oppression and illegal search and seizures. You lose all of your fundamental rights under the UN's plans. Take no chances, take no prisoners. This is war not just against Hillary but against the Progressive Socialist.

All the GOP supporters have are name calling rights. I see no actual facts to go for anyone other than Hillary.

PLENTY of people dislike Hillary but could you sound a little more like a bratty little child when your main premise is “We’re supporting anything that is the opposite of Hillary.” There's enough hate out there for her where this PAC is entirely unnecessary and the fact that it's so childish may actually backfire on them. What you are saying is that you hate her so much that even if she supports policy you agree with you will oppose her...brilliant strategy.

Todd – why is it that anybody that disagrees with you is a low info voter? I'm a liberal; but not a socialist. I don't take any checks from the government except my income tax refund. Why don't you look up the word "socialist"? If you did, you'd realize that Obamacare is not socialism at all. The government does not employ the doctors, own the hospitals, or manufacture the medicine. Lay off the Fox News and Rush and get an opinion of your own that is based on facts and the English language.

Everyone who says that Hillary will not win because she is a woman is really underestimating how many single mom's raised kids over the past thirty years. To say a woman is not capable is fallacy. For everyone who thinks rubio will win the Hispanic vote, obviously you don't understand Hispanics. Hispanics are jot one in the same. Cuban especially has a very different experience. Rubin has done nothing to win over hispanics and the way the gop is treating his gang of eight, I wouldn't be surprised if he was a little disappointed at how he is being treated.

GOP still needs presidential election education. People don't vote AGAINST a candidate, they vote FOR a candidate. They spent four years on campaigning against Obama from 2008 to 2012, ignoring their own self-destructive primary process and isolating policies. The result? An Obama land-slide against their richest, best-looking, most moderate candidate. The GOP wants to win back the presidency, they'll need a platform that offers solutions, not just "repeal Obamacare" and "no amnesty".

I am at a loss for words to find so many who back one of the most prolific liars on the planet. And out of blind idolatry. Mass madness of thinking you really can get something for nothing. The cost of Progressive Democrat Socialists (Obama and Hillary) will be dear. And as they do so well today, will blame that cost on somebody or something else.

This country is so divided it's disgusting. Everything is black or white. Democrat or Republican. It's gotten worse ever since MY president took office. I love my president but I do NOT love what has become of our public. We are not uniting we are dividing. I do not support Hillary and I am a woman. I am a black woman at that (not that it should make a difference). Read up on her political past and you'll understand why I will not give her my vote. She is a radical and we should never support radicals, right OR left. I'm sick of uninformed people dominating the media, comment sections, where ever. I will not get sucked into the hate.

It's a wonderful idea to make money. Most of these guys who makes PACs are either strategists, media in charges, office in charge etc etc. They know how to make easy money and each time they comes up with a ponzi scheme. With this PAC,they are going to get money from over jealous, emotional republican party base who is going desperate after two consecutive defeats and plus from other aspirants of democratic party.Who knows if Joe Biden is sponsoring this group. But AHH...our stupid voters...

Democrat and republicans are the same. Vote for a 3rd party candidate no matter what the consequences. That's the only way we can change the fascist oligarchy our country is becoming.

  23. Really ??

This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. They don't even have a viable candidate for the Republicans so they just start this garbage. If they think it will help their party they are wrong...it will backfire as it has in the past! Go Hillary!!

4 dead in Benghazi and the left loonies don't care. These people were on the front line protecting our embassies and were left to die in a hostile country, even after repeated requests for help and forewarnings of imminent danger. Those that continue to support this administration after this disgrace are DISGUSTING!!!
