‘Stop Hillary’ group ramps up anti-Clinton efforts

Washington (CNN) - Hillary Clinton may or may not run for president in 2016, but the conservative effort to derail her potential candidacy is already underway.

Iowa poll: Who wins a Clinton-Christie 2016 showdown?

The organizers behind Stop Hillary PAC, a political action committee quietly incorporated in May, are stepping into public view this week as they ramp up their efforts to harangue Clinton as she mulls over her political future.

On Monday, the PAC is announcing its leadership team, steered by Ted Harvey, a conservative Colorado state senator who was a vocal opponent of the recent gun control laws passed in the state.

Also coming on board are Garrett Marquis, a media strategist and alumnus of John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign; Alex Shively, a former aide to Georgia Rep. Tom Price; Jacob Leis, a Colorado-based political strategist; and Dan Backer, a Washington attorney and lobbyist.

Those aren’t the most prominent names in Republican politics, but according to Marquis, that’s just fine. The PAC and its messaging are designed to appeal to grassroots conservatives and low dollar contributors, not traditional big donors.

Put another way, the group wants to be a boisterous party-crasher as the 2016 campaign gets underway, ginning up controversy and online contributions with barbed attacks against Clinton. To start, the PAC is releasing a video later this week “that will get a lot of attention,” Marquis promised.

Former top Obama campaign aides to advise Clinton effort

The organization’s plans to “Stop Hillary” are admittedly scattershot in these early stages of the race. Their portfolio could include “bracketing” events at Clinton appearances around the country, or local TV and radio ads, or social media efforts. If Clinton does decide to run for office, the PAC will be in Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina waiting for her.

The point, Marquis said, is “to make noise” wherever Clinton goes.

“We’re supporting anything that is the opposite of Hillary,” he said. “We will play however needed, wherever Hillary is playing. If she endorses in the Virginia governor’s race, we will go there. Assuming she is active in Iowa, we will be there, too, and we will make some considerable noise.”

Clinton opponents plan donor meeting in New York

The group is separate from “Stop Hillary 2016,” a project initiated last month by America Rising, a new opposition research outfit helmed by former Mitt Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades and a pair of former Republican National Committee officials.

Obviously, some in the GOP are afraid of her.
We are three plus years away from the election, and they are already trying to derail her candidacy?

Wake up America. These Republican fools are wasting your money. Instead of serving the people by passing legislation these bums are sitting around capitol hill worried more about trying to slander another person than they are about improving their own reputation by doing some good.

From day one after President Obama was elected. The prejudiced Tea Party Republicans spent 4 years trying to prove he isn't a USA citizen and filibustering everything that the then majority Democratic House would propose. Then when they gained the majority in 2010 they have sat on their hands continuing to try and ruin the country financially.

What really needs to happen is for the people of the USA to wise up and vote Democrats back into the House and Senate in 2014 to give them a majority in both and then America will see the economy get a jump start and rally the economy back to where it was prior to the Republicans deregulation that destroyed this countries economy.

    >>>>“We’re supporting anything that is the opposite of Hillary,” he said.<<<<

Oh gee!....they are going to use the same tactic they have been using on President Obama to make him a one term President. I hope they have the same results.

Pathetic... such a waste of money that could be used for more positive things. All this negativity is just what the Country needs right? Saddens me to think the USA will never learn because so many have forgotten History...

I'm betting the Karl Rove will eventually devise the over-all strategy for the anti-Hillary campaign.

They could dig Ronald Regan up and it wouldn't stop Hillary! Republicans sealed their fate when they started taking away women's rights with the abortion issues!

This country cannot afford more job and economy killing progressive ideas. We must stop the tax and spend mentality. Look at Detroit..taxed upper, middle class as well as businesses...till they left. Hillary is not the ethically nor morally capable leader we need. Time to move on.

That's the way to go GOP.... if you can't dazzle the country with brilliance then offend as many as possible with hatred. The GOP is on its way to leadership by bigotry, distrust, and repugnant tactics. I have often considered voting for a Republican candidate, but after the GOP tactics are in place I vote against anyone they proffer. This is a terrible way to run a democracy.

A bunch of men with nothing else to do than obsess over Bill Clinton's wife. Republicans have no agenda for moving America forward, they just whine about Obama, liberals, "the media", and now Hillary. Stopping Hillary is a not a valid political platform, but it's all Republicans have. Republicans are desperate, sad, and pathetic.

Wow, way to give massive political power to Hillary. You can't say she's not a threat and then dump this kind of energy and cash into trashing her. Way to send the message to the world that conservatives fear her. AND she hasn't even announced a run yet.

Let's start counting up the number of times this woman has BRAZENLY lied to us directly. Starting with "Right Wing Conspiracy" about Lewinski and up to and not ending with Benghazi attack was about an obscure video. What ever happened to that guy? Was he working for Clinton and the lefties?

The problem with politics today......simplistic,moronic behavior! "We want the opposite of whatever Hillary wants". So if she wants high employment, good paying jobs and our country at peace....you still want the opposite? Opposing parties can want a better living environment,a better country and still find a way to get there. It doesn't have to be obliterate the other side. We are a nation of laws. Not a Taliban controled third world mess.

the fact they are so terrified of this one woman is laughable. if Obama's presidency has reminded us anything it's that the President can not do much on his own if Congress chooses to stop him. so why is she such a threat? because she would dare to give people a chance at a decent life? or because she wouldn't enable the cronyism of corporate america to run quite as rampant as it has in past years so they can profit while others go homeless and hungry? give me a break, no one President is going to upset the status quo that much.
