Pastor of XXX Church: Weiner is an addict, not a joke

(CNN) - There are still a lot of details to come out, but here's one thing we know about Anthony Weiner: He is not a punch line; he is an addict.

I would assume Weiner has always had an uphill battle against being the butt of someone's joke, just by the nature of his last name. Immaturity has always reigned supreme, and now in the days of Internet memes and Twitter zingers, Weiner seemed ready-made for a scandal.

Oh please: a link to some guy on BeliefBlog, waxing philosophical about the nonexistent condition known as "sex addiction"?

The Weiner story can't go away fast enough. Now we have to endure sermons from batty evangelists.

Ah, yes... the oh-so familiar liberal "he's really the victim" pablum. Spare me.

Well and respectfully said. Unfortunately, there's nothing Amurikans hate more than being told to mind their own freekin business. Bathing in others' misery is a national pastime.

"Ah, yes... the oh-so familiar liberal "he's really the victim" pablum. Spare me."

Nothing he said can even remotely interpreted as making Weiner "the victim." Anyone who knows anything about treating addictions knows that it involves a heavy dose of forcing the person to come to grips with being accountable for their addiction and taking personal responsibility for climbing out of the maladaptive behavioral loop they've spiraled into. The author even said that he wants Weiner to be accountable. Suggesting that Weiner's obvious personal issue, if it is indeed an addiction, is not a laughing matter, not for jokes and should be taken seriously is not "making him the victim." And besides, any attempt to flip that "crying victim" crap onto liberals after we've had to listen to so many cries of "you're the REAL racist" and "war on Xmas" and "gay marriage is an attack on my traditional marriage" etc. etc. etc. from the GOP/Teatrolls and religio-fascists...patently absurd.

Do we really need to focus on this? Has there been any talk about his (and the other candidates) plans for NYC and the policies he would implement? That is what we need to focus on more than if he can keep it in his pants.

Oh, dear. A sermon on sex and it's addictive behavior.

Mr. Weiner lacks self discipline, and because of this behavior he needs to lower his aspirations and help the public in smaller ways. The problem in that is it will not feed his EGO, New York wake up, pick one of the other candidates and let this troubled man fade into the sunset..
