Pelosi blasts Weiner, Filner: Do your therapy in private

Washington (CNN) – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi tore into Anthony Weiner and San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, saying Thursday the two former House Democrats should "get a clue" as they face backlash for their questionable behavior with women.

"Let me be very clear, the conduct of some of these people that we're talking about here is reprehensible," Pelosi said at her weekly press conference on Capitol Hill.

Her comments came after Rep. Jerry Nadler, a fellow Democrat who represents part of Manhattan, made biting comments about Weiner, saying Wednesday night that the New York City mayoral hopeful "needs serious psychiatric help."

Weiner admitted this week that he continued sending racy messages more than a year after the same habit forced his 2011 resignation from Congress.

Meanwhile, on the West Coast, a third woman came forward Tuesday accusing Filner, who served in Congress for two decades, of sexual harassment.

Both Democrats indicated they're in need of professional help. Weiner said this week that he's in therapy for his problem, while Filner has openly stated he needs "help" and has been "clearly doing something wrong."

Pelosi chided the men for their actions and said they should address their therapy sessions away from the spotlight.

"It is so disrespectful of women, and what's really stunning about it is they don't even realize, they don't have a clue. If they're clueless, get a clue. If they need therapy, do it in private," she said.

The House Democratic leader stopped short of calling for Weiner to step aside in the mayoral race, saying it's up to him to make the decision. It was a different story two years ago, when Pelosi had more authority over Weiner in the House and was among many high-profile Democrats who urged him to resign.

Nadler, however, called on Weiner to withdraw from this year's race. Speaking to reporters Wednesday night, Nadler said Weiner is a "serial liar" and someone who "has shown monumentally bad judgment" and "needs serious psychiatric help."

Weiner did not have many close friends on Capitol Hill before the last scandal in 2011, so it's not all that surprising that he's not getting vocal support from his former colleagues

Nadler, who's now in his 12th term, said the mayoral race should be about the issues, "not a media circus on his sexual peccadilloes."

The Democrat said he has not endorsed anyone in the Democratic primary, and was unsure whether he would before voters go to the polls.

Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York, the one-time political mentor to Weiner, declined to comment Thursday during a briefing with reporters on a transportation and housing bill by Senate Democrat leaders.

Weiner's opponents in the race are pushing the candidate to drop out. His biggest competitor, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, said in a statement Wednesday that Weiner's candidacy has turned the contest into a "circus."

"Being the Mayor of New York is serious business and it demands a serious leader. Instead we have seen a pattern of reckless behavior, consistently poor judgment, and difficulty with the truth," she wrote.

Meanwhile, via Faux News, the GOP/Teatrolls are starting to try manufacturing a talking point that Huma is "even worse than her husband" so they can then pivot to talking about how horrible Hillary supposedly is for staying with Bubba. GOP/Teatroll misogyny knows no bounds.

So these perverts were doing this when she was their "leader" and whaqt did she do about it? Look the other way. We were told she was going to drain the swamp and yet these two reptiles manaqged to survive and thrive while abusing women.

Pelosi, thou doth protest too much. You could have done something long ago and didn't. And even now you refuse to call for both to resign and/or drop out. Party over all else, as usual.

Enough coverage, unless something new comes to light. Filner's fate will probably be determined by the courts. New Yorkers will or will not elect Weiner mayor. All this high dudgeon is getting exhausting.

Meanwhile, there are policy issues that aren't making the news today.

Odd comment... I was sure you were going to opine along the lines of "Pelosi should mind her own business". Guess not. Why am I not surprised, though?

New York, WAKE UP!!!!. From my understanding Christine Quinn has been a solid public servant. For you to vote for Mr. Weiner who has shown he lacks character and self control says more about the low expectations of New Yorkers than anything else. HOW CAN YOU TRUST THIS PERSON?????

Not this woman. Their situations have absolutely nothing to do with me nor does it reflect my views as a woman. Please stop making this about women. It's not. It never has been and it needs to stop NOW.

Let's ignore the fact that Pelosi wanted Weiner out in 2011, and he complied. Let's ignore the fact that Pelosi had absolutely nothing to do with what Weiner may have done in 2012. Let's ignore the fact that the same applies to the Mayor of San Diego. A member of the House from San Francisco is the boss of the Mayor of San Diego, or any other city or town.

But, let's not ignore the fact that the right wing stands up cheers at misrepresentations of the facts such as these.

What Weiner did was with another consenting adult.........much different scenario than what Filner has done. Weiner may or may not survive the political fallout from his activities.......Filner is toast. Stick a fork in him, he's done! He's learning what all harassers eventually learn: when one starts talking, they all start talking. And when they come for you, there is no place to hide......they will take you down hard. Its a lesson learned the hard way.

Maybe somebody told Pelosi about chief of police kessler of gilberton, PA. Ithought PA was better but it's true what they say about PA, there's Philadelphia, pittsburgh and the rest of what is a redneck state at its worst. He uses a "crazy" nancy target to shoot her and he uses and wears profanity against them libtards and other extremely offensive remarks coming from a police chief.
If I was her I would stay way from PA. Werner is a baby when compared to this madman!!

I actually agree with Pelos (gulp). There are some others on both sides that need to be called out too!
I also agree with DD, Bad news always make money!
    Filner needs to be bounced
Weiner's fate is up the voters, Sanford came back, Vitter, never left, The Kennedys are beloved, as is Clinton!
Huma's choice is exactly Huma's choice! Unless you are Huma, you have no idea! So, shhhhhh!

Not true! Remember Vitter? As I said early, he never left! Folks are indeed asking Weiner, Spitzer, and Filner to go home!

There are plenty of misfits in both parties that get re-elected regardless of their personal issues. Weiner is a low life but the main question voters must ask is that are his serial sexual issues going to get in the way of running one of America's best cities. I have not heard anyone bad mouth Huma – she is in a no win situation.

Weiner was asked, and he finally resigned. Name one Republican who was asked by his own party to resign, much less do it.
