Clinton-Biden breakfast sparks more 2016 talk

Washington (CNN) - Two good friends who've worked together for years sat down for breakfast Tuesday.

But this wasn't just any morning meeting. The breakfast between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden, held at the vice president's residence, could be a coming attraction for the battle for the 2016 Democratic nomination.

According to the vice president's office, the two dined on scrambled eggs with roasted tomatoes and avocado, turkey bacon, fresh cut fruit, and multigrain toast. But the big question is whether the next race for the White House was also on the menu.

Both Clinton and Biden are considered possible contenders for the next Democratic presidential nomination. And if Clinton runs, she'd be the early overwhelming frontrunner.

Biden and Clinton have a long history of working with each other, from their years together in the U.S. Senate to their dealings the past four years in President Barack Obama's first term.

"Vice President Biden and Secretary Clinton have enjoyed a long friendship which flourished when she joined the Senate and continues to this day," Larry Rasky, a longtime senior political adviser to Biden, told CNN.

An official with the vice president's office says the breakfast had been long planned.

For Clinton, Tuesday's meal with Biden follows a lunch Monday at the White House with her old boss.

So what was on the agenda at that get-together between Clinton and Obama?

Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest said it was "largely friendship" that was on the agenda between Obama and Clinton, who were fierce rivals in a marathon and historic race for the 2008 Democratic nomination.

Earnest said the president invited Clinton to the lunch, which consisted of grilled chicken, pasta jambalaya and salad.

Lets put all the ducks in a row, Biden doesn't stand a chance in winning the nomination with Hillary also in the run.

So.....who thinks that a backwoods, crooked real estate lawyer is actually qualified to run the country? Especially after she made a mess of the State Department.
It is obvious that a community organizer can't do it.
How about next time we try "Leadership" as a qualification?

What, no coffee? No juices? Hold the toast for lunch. Change my avocado into cheddar grits with a hint of roasted garlic.

repos scrambling . How funny. They need to get some work done now and stop worrying about 2016. If they don't pass immigration their party will be dead by then anyway.

    @Rudy,

Agree about holding the toast, but I emphatically disagree about losing the avocados. But then I live in the avocado epicenter of the world, so that may be coloring my judgment.

I love avocados, too. They could go on my cucumber, tomato and avocado sandwich on the multi-grain bread with mayo.. Yum, if you've never tried it. I think the eggs and roasted tomatoes would be go nice on top of a bowl of creamy, cheesy grits.

So who wants to put someone in charge that left 4 Americans to die, and if you think that it does not matter tell that to the parents who had their sons abandoned in Benghazi. And yes it did happen.

Yeah, but in order to get the most out of the primary, she needs an effective foil to juxtapose her ideas and policy positions. He may run just to provide her with the platform of having a serious debate so that primary is not just a coronation and provides more opportunity for discussion.

In 2008, the GOP gave a war weary country a war monger, and an unknown sloganeer.
In 2012, the GOP gave an ideology weary country an out of touch millionaire, and a budget wonk who doesn't run his numbers.

This might come as a complete shock to you, but elected officials are responsible for the cost of their own meals – unless of course they're being feted by a corporate lobbyist looking to make a mint off the American taxpayer.

Rudy, those grits sound delicious. Thanks for the recipe!

As for avocados on sandwiches, that's du jour on the menus here in Diego. Particularly popular is the BLT with avocado, which we call a BLTA. As for salads, you practically have to make a point to your server to hold the avocado if you don't want it.

Infinitely better than LEAVING in charge someone who oversaw the deaths of hundreds of Americans resulting from NUMEROUS Embassy/Consulate attacks AND the deaths of thousands of Americans resulting from his ignoring of important security information; and then instead of going after the perpetrators, starting a war that cost thousands of ADDITIONAL American lives for no other reason than vengeance against a guy who had the unmitigated gall to fight back after his daddy started a war with that guy. And let's not forget, the apologists who called his detractors names for attempting to reign him in are the same crew that cut security funding which allowed Benghazi to happen in the first place. Time for you and your little strawman to go back to school.

    @ Equal share for everyone!
.........How about next time we try "Leadership" as a qualification?
    ---------------------------–
Now that is funny, a republican saying "look at us, we have the leaders...!"

A leader is someone who leads by example, who has intelligence, vision, creativity, compassion, tolerance, acceptance and understanding of cultural diversity, who cares for the middle class and minorities, who doesn't hate the gay and lesbian community because of their sexual orientation, who is fair minded, etc.

Nobody in the past, present, or future GOP clown bus has these qualifications, and if there was a true leader in the GOP, that candidate would have no chance to be nominated, because the republican electorate would either not recognize the true leader, or could not handle so many positive qualities in one person. An Example? The one GOP candidate in the last presidential elections was Huntsman, and he ended his run in the single digits.
