Washington (CNN) - The vice chairman of the Federal Election Commission told CNN on Monday he has seen numerous undisclosed e-mails between FEC staffers and the Internal Revenue Service that raise new questions about potential collusion between the two federal agencies in the alleged targeting of conservative political groups.
Don McGahn, a Republican FEC commissioner, said an investigator from his agency contacted Lois Lerner - the IRS employee at the center of the political storm now engulfing that agency - to discuss the status of one such conservative political advocacy group, the American Future Fund.
501(c)(4) groups – not supposed to be engaged primarily in campaign/political activity if they want to maintain tax-exempt status and keep donors secret.
IRS checking with FEC...the entity that might have some information as to how much money is pouring thru the organization into political ads... is somehow shocking?
Haha...right...whatever. Cue the fake outrage and misinformation campaigns from the GOP/Teatrolls...and the MSM's mindless, uncritical regurgitation of the demagoguery..
GOP, give it up, we aren't interested in your bs and you will find that out in the 2014 midterms when you lose the house and senate,GOP morons and idiots!!
If you're looking for illegal activity you don't check a primary school lunchroom. These conservative groups have been calling themselves something they're not in order to avoid regulation, then swnickering about how they fooled the "gummint." Now that they're caught they're squaling like a bunch of stuck pigs.
If the FEC was checking with the IRS on any groups' tax excempt status, they were thinking campaign contribution violation. The TEA Parties aren't going to get any prettier here. Another faux Republican scandal bites the dust.
We all KNOW that was entirely political........but the idiots in this country allow Obama to walk away from every single criminal act.
When most journalists write about this supposed IRS "scandal" they always say that the IRS was targeting Conservative groups. They should say they were doing their job and investigating new Conservative POLITICAL leaning groups which probably should NOT be tax exempt. There's a huge difference. Maybe the IRS should take a second look at all the right and left groups and see if they all really did meet the requirements. The Republicans might not want that to happen.
Wow...crickets...nothing from the rwnj's so far...Think they struck a nerve here...lmao!!!
You have to look at the Big Picture here. Those on the left want to expand the Federal Government to where everyone is subject to rules and reguoations by government decree. That was tried in the Soviet Union but ultamantly failed. So far with this "Experment" with Obama Care there is a lot of resistance as to the benifits that are promised. The Economy, what there is of it, is pretty stagnent and will be for the forseeable future if Obmam Care isn't repealed. The very people that Obama Care is supposed to help will suffer the most. Stay Tuned.
This is no more than a giant mound of red herring. It smells, it has a certain look of being fabricated, and it's typical republican election smearing tactics. After all is said and done, there'll be little if anything discovered, that wasn't happening during the time of elections from many years ago.
There have been a lot of relatively mean and hateful comments about Issa and the Republican party focusing on these so-called phony scandals. None of these scandals are phony. Collectively, they create the impression of corruption by the current administration. If not by the president, then certainly by high-ranking people in the administration. Such corruption seems to toss important values like accountability and integrity to the wayside in order to accomplish the agenda of the administration. I may be wrong, but the collective news coverage on CNN, Fox, MSNBC and other mainstream outlets makes this impression quite solid.
With the way things have gone with these Repubs in IRS, they are becoming very desparate. Anything can go for political influence......including information on policy clarification.
We need a new tax code !
The IRS has been in limbo for the last 20 years.
The GOP ans Issa are not interested in making paying taxes fare and easier . They are only looking at fish to fry .
