Bush is home after heart procedure

(CNN) – Former President George W. Bush is home Wednesday a day after having a stent placed in his heart to alleviate a blockage in an artery, according to his spokesman Freddy Ford.

The procedure was "performed successfully," without complication, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas Tuesday morning, Bush's office announced in a statement shortly afterwards.

"President Bush is in high spirits, eager to return home tomorrow and resume his normal schedule on Thursday. He is grateful to the skilled medical professionals who have cared for him," the statement read.

Bush on track to leave hospital; Clinton reaches out

The blockage was found during Bush's annual physical examination at the Cooper Clinic in Dallas on Monday.

"He thanks his family, friends, and fellow citizens for their prayers and well wishes. And he encourages us all to get our regular check-ups," the statement continued.

The 43rd president was known for having relatively good health during his tenure at the White House. For exercise, he was an active runner and frequently rode his mountain bike.

Former President Bill Clinton, who has had heart issues in the past, reached out to Bush upon learning that he had the stent procedure. Clinton is traveling in Africa with his daughter Chelsea, and advisers to both presidents said they were working on connecting the two men.

Clinton had two stents placed in his heart in 2010 after images revealed that a bypass graft – part of a quadruple bypass surgery that Clinton underwent in 2004 – was blocked.

Glad he is recovering quickly.Wish no ill will on anyone, even a war criminal that gets free health insurance paid on our dime. Hope to get some insurance soon so if this happens to me my family wont have to file BK.

Against his doctor's advice, Skippy is returning to his normal diet of pop tarts and tang, fried catfish and pork rinds, a bag of squirrel nut zippers , because he likes to say it, and his normal daily twelve pack of Lone Star with a fifth of Jack.

Notice he doesn't bother to pretend he's going to Crawford, Texas, to be a brush-cutting cowboy anymore. The show is over.

Hilarious that people on here write comments such as "Who cares?" or "Spare me the details". The fact that you read the article and make such comments proves otherwise.

But why was the surgery performed if he had no symptoms? My understanding is that stents only usefulness is to alleviate symptoms if the heart is not getting enough blood supply and do nothing to protect the patient from a future heart attack. Since all surgery carries risk, why was this done? At least he's doing well. He's an exemplary EX-president and I wish him and his family the best.

Here is the mentality of the Bush's and other President's; being President without declaring war is like being the quarterback of a college football team and not winning the State Championship. That's why there are so many false flags like 911 so that wars can be declared and thus their presidencies can go down in history as worth while.

Great response, I just dont get why people never talk about the hundreds of thousands of Kurds he murdered (last figure I saw was about half a million), similar to what Hilter did. It was ok to go take Hitler out but not Saddam??? Makes no sense to me.

PinV.try killing five thousand and get rich in the process.that should do it. The women who praise this man may as well spit in the face of the mothers who children were sent to die for profits.he made up the reports that said Saddam had WMD. When in fact he was told after extensive investigation there simply were none.lord to go to war he should be hung at gauge.swinging next to Cheney.only a very evil man puts money above the murder of patriotic men and women. That Los can't hold a candlestick to the patriots who died thousands of miles from home. Thinking they were defending a threat that was fabricated.and don't forget his tax evasion seminar on election night. Heck of a guy

Didn't vote for him but I certainly don't have the kind of hatred some on this board have shown. I wish him a speedy recovery and a long healthy life with his family. I didn't vote for the sitting prez either, but man, he makes Bush look like Teddy Roosevelt. Sad state of affairs this country has come to. The division and hatred promoted by the current "leaders" is no way to run a country.
