First on CNN: Issa expands IRS investigation

Washington (CNN) - House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa demanded Wednesday that the Federal Election Commission turn over records of more than five years of communications with the Internal Revenue Service - a move that significantly expands the California Republican's ongoing probe of alleged federal targeting of conservative groups.

In a letter to FEC Chairwoman Ellen Weintraub - a Democrat - Issa cited CNN reporting on Monday that raises "the prospect of inappropriate coordination between the IRS and the FEC about tax-exempt entities."

I can hardly wait until the Republicans take control of the federal government and start attacking, harrassing and suppressing the liberal/progressive groups, people and businesses. I am sure you all will have no problem with that will you? Or will you all scream foul and demand investigations and jail time for the offenders?

You'll wait a long, long, time. The GOP is dyin'd dude, the TEA Party has turned it into John Birch on drugs. Issa is wrecking whatever is left of the GOP's credibility. The only people left to support will be wearin' tri-corner tin foil hts with tea bags on 'em because they are the only fools left that believe their spew.

Right... Because Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are just so darn nice and never ever want to appear to be attacking and investigating Republicans! In other words, there was nothing to investigate and they knew it. They would NEVER have passed up an opportunity to bring down the opposition. Please spin your fairy tales elsewhere.

It's a dead issue Issa! They investigated both left and right groups. A point you left out! Go away already! The GOP is good for nothing!

Ummmm, Harry Reid referred to him as a liar. Nancy Pelosi called George Bush a loser and a total failure. Is that proof enough? Ted Kennedy "week after week we were told lie after lie after lie". Are these not attempts to take him down and crush his crediibility?

One week Benghazi, another week IRS, the following week attacking Eric Holder, then back to Benghazi and so on and so forth, so long as they can keep rotating their phony scandals. It is getting boring.

No, they were objective observations of the state of the facts as we discovered them. It's entirely distinguishable from people searching for elephants in the strawberry patch and then, when they're unable to find them, screaming about it being all because the elephants are hiding really well. Facts and evidence are used to draw conclusions. They're not something to manufacture after you've decided what should be the reality.

    Well Damn,
Somebody has to watch the store. The basic question is why were all those applications from mostly conservatives-Tea Party groups delayed, not approved? We will never get to the bottom of all of it but the answer is pretty simple. The Liberal's are trying to keep their House of Cards for collapsing. Two things come to mind, the 17 Trillion Dollar Federal debt and worsing employment numbers. For the record, the Liberal's have been winning the last 80 plus years and they don't want to lose what they have gained. Whatever that is.

"passing the ACA, which in an earlier incarnation was referred to as Romneycare"

TP, I find yoiu to be one of the more reasonable liberals here and you don't seem to totally demonize someone just because they have a difference of opinion from you. This quote, however, is quite disingenuous and is not intellectually honest. There is a huge difference between the ACA vs Romneycare and you should know better. Romneycare was in one state and its residents wanted this law which is perfectly acceptable. The ACA is a federal law and therefore has no relevance whatsoever to Romneycare. It is not correct to compare the two.
    *****************
You may recall that I said " an earlier incarnation": my point is that Romneycare was the model that was actually enacted, and it was the GOP alternative to Single-Payer. Yes, it was a state-wide plan intended only for MA, but it formed the cornerstone of Romney's credibility when he ran in 2008, and it hurt him in 2012 with Gingrich and Santorum attacking him ( conveniently forgeting their earlier support of the mandate in the plan). Obama did what every GOP governor for 30 years was saying: he used the states as a laboratory to find methods that would work on a national level. It is perfectly acceptable to say the ACA is like Romneycare because it IS essentially the same plan. It is perfectly aceptable to say the MA plan is the prototype for the ACA: Romney's own advisors on his plan have said as much.

It is pretty funny to see all the liberals in here posting that there is nothing there even before anything has been investigated. Do you all get issued the very same talking points or instruction book at the beginning of every day? Watergate was investigated for a full year before they started getting to the bottom of it. And all they get out of the Obama administration is people lying under oath, executive privilege, intimidatinbg witnesses/survivors, stonewalling, refusal to hand over doucments, etc.

If the Obama Administration and the Democrats have nothing to hide, they are sure going through extraordinary means to hide everything and block any investigation to determine the facts.

Big difference between that and running a constant, ongoing investigation in the hopes of finding that Obama failed to pay a parking ticket when he was in college. I'm waiting for Issa to go to that level of desperation.

Favorability ratings with Georgia Republicans: Paula Deen 73/11, Martin Luther King Jr. 59/28
    -------------------
Remember that poll cited in a previous thread about favorability and European nations. There are no 2013 polls posted. There was a poll, dated May 11, 2012, about world opinions on the favorability ratings of those nations themselves, NOT what those nations think of the U.S. It was all a lie.

What exactly is he looking for now that he hasn't yet found after all this wasted grandstanding of his? Beside his own trustfulness at what I suspect is a job too difficult for his meager level of competence.

I've exposed this lie before, tom. Why keep repeating it? Pelosi said no such thing, and Reid was correct to call Bush a liar, because he did. Just prior to the 2004 elections Bush visited Nevada and promised the people of that state that Yucca Mountain would not become the nation's nuclear waste dump. Within days of winning the 2004 election, including Nevada, Bush reneged on his promise and announced that Yucca Mountain would become the nation's nuclear waste dumping ground. Reid was correct. Bush had flat out lied to the people of Nevada.

@TP (wow, you have the same initials as the TEA Party! :))

You are still conflating the two. It is a state's rights issue vs a federal issue. Plain and simple. Mass had every right to do that and it would be extremely consistent to be against it for the federal govt to apply the same law. You are talking apples and oranges. The only similarity is that they both are about health insurance and they both ignore healthcare. The big irony is that the big winner in this was the big bad health insurance companies. Certainly, we the people were not winners here.

Why are the lefties always trying to tie this to Obama??? Let the investigation play out and see where they take you. To claim there is nothing there a few months into an investgation, many of which last years, is ludicrous. But one thing is for sure, when high level people in the IRS start peading the 5th, there is definitely something there worth investigating. Democrats are just po'd it has happened on their watch. Oh well. I guess somebody should have been paying closer attention to governing and less attention on celebrity events.

    @Rudy
My bad, it was Reid that called him a loser.

Reid made the remark while discussing the filibuster issue with about 60 Del Sol High School juniors, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Web site.

"The man's father is a wonderful human being," Reid said in response to a question about Bush's policies. "I think this guy is a loser."

Why do you deny the absolute truth? And what about Obama? Has he not told "lies"? My goodness gracious.
