First on CNN: Issa expands IRS investigation

Washington (CNN) - House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa demanded Wednesday that the Federal Election Commission turn over records of more than five years of communications with the Internal Revenue Service - a move that significantly expands the California Republican's ongoing probe of alleged federal targeting of conservative groups.

In a letter to FEC Chairwoman Ellen Weintraub - a Democrat - Issa cited CNN reporting on Monday that raises "the prospect of inappropriate coordination between the IRS and the FEC about tax-exempt entities."

Why just five years? Why not ten? Why not 20 or 30? Lets investigate Obama, Bush II, Clinton, Bush I, and Reagan.

Yada, yada. I'm sure those five years of communications will be selectively edited to make it look like a conspiracy when, in fact, it just a bunch of unrelated emails on a range of topics. I wish someone would start adding up all the money being spent on these investigations searching for non-existent scandals.

but, but, but obama and the leftist democrats claim this was all two rouge irs agents in cinci. nothing to see here.

then we find out the irs trail leads all the way to washington to some high level people and they start pleading the 5th. now it spreads to other parts of the federal government, which matches what groups have claimed, that all of a sudden they were getting knocks on the door from several federal agencies with questions, audits, investigations.

I would venture to say that all of these agencies are run by mostly liberal democrats, the believers in large overbearing federal government and the unions they belong to, which support democrats who keep giving them more and more. the democrats have turned the federal government into an organized crime syndicate and they should be prosecuted under the rico statutes.

What's wrong with the FEC looking at new groups when there is a sudden proliferation of them springing up? It would appear that Mr. Issa thinks that it is improper for FEC to investigate political groups in order to make sure that they follow the rules. By definition, isn't it the FEC's job to make sure that everyone follows the rules?

  7. it must be said

And don't stop with the FEC Issa! Start looking into the EPA, ATF, etc. People that were targetted also had them pounding on their doors. If this involves this many agencies then it would be one of the largest government conspiracies against its own people. Well, except for the NSA thing!

Issa and Dave Camp are out there raising accusations again with ZERO substantiation. Where are these emails that supposedly indicate some wrongdoing? Doesn't anybody find it odd that yet again we have the GOP making lots of noise and demanding lots of information but never come up with any facts to support their assertions? We've seen this movie before with the IRS nontroversy and the sequel will likely prove to be just as pathetic. I guess it does serve to stir up the GOP base and get them to open their wallets.

Issa is once again proving he is an uber-partisan retard who enjoys getting his witless rightwing drama-queen followers in a contrived tizzy over components of our government actually doing their legislated jobs. And some of YOU will be stupid enough to fall once again for his underhanded political hit-job.

I congratulate the IRS for ferreting out tax fraud everywhere, including so-called "conservative" political groups. And who better to know which groups have a political connection than the FEC!!! Follow the campaign contributions!!!!

Issa and his followers are absolute morons.

In the real world if you spend millions to steer your organization down the wrong path that leads to nothing, you get fired. This game has been going on for months now, and the only tangible evidence found proved Liberal groups were also "questioned" about their status, which is the IRS's job. Republicans are so desperate for a "win" they won't ever end this.

First it was last year, then it was 3 years, now its 5 years. Issa is bound to find "ONE" email out of the tens of thousands that were sent over the past 5 years that shows a conservative group was targeted. Why is Issa only asking for 5 years why not go back to when Bush was in office when Liberal and progressive groups were targeted. Issa is really pathetic. These GOP trolls are getting pretty desperate. How can anyone vote for these idiots is beyond me.

I can hardly wait until the Republicans take control of the federal government and start attacking, harrassing and suppressing the liberal/progressive groups, people and businesses. I am sure you all will have no problem with that will you? Or will you all scream foul and demand investigations and jail time for the offenders?

except you completely ignore the facts of the matter. these groups were not active because the irs was sitting on their applications for 2-3 years, essentially taking them out of participation in two election cycles, by not denying them (which could have been appealed), or approving them. there was no activity for the fec to look at. unless of course the intent was to harrass and intimidate these people and groups.

because this is how long the corrupt obama adminstration has ben in office. if there was any evidence of what you say, then surely the democrats would have investigated it from 2009 -2010 when they controlled all of the federal government. or even in the last two years of the bush adminstration when democrats reid and pelosi controlled congress and could investigate anything they wanted to.

nice try though, but we gotcha!

Heck, you don't even need to subpoena anything from the IRS, or anybody. All you need to do is look at the headlines from October 2004 and read the quotes of administration officials and members of Congress openly calling for an IRS investigation of the NAACP. An investigation that lasted for two years, affected every local branch in the nation, turned up nothing, and cost the organization millions in legal fees.

Remember, the "higher they fly, the harder they fall", and Issa thinks he is flying high, which is what happens when
something is filled with hot air. Guess what happens when someone sticks a pin in. Crash!
These so-called "conservative groups" are about as "socially welfare" oriented as my big toe. They came out
of the woodwork after the SCOTUS ruling and they are still going. Let's see "copies" of what they have
done for people, other than spewing "instructions" on how to "get our Country back".
That's their basis for tax exempt status. Baloney!

You can day things like..indications are..things point to...right. your all a bunch of fools who can't stand the fact that a blackman has righted what you did wrong. And tell me again how all but eliminating romneys tax will fix our economy.and why couldn't he tell us where the12 million jobs were coming from? Why did he steal workers retirement fund to add more to his bank account? Your party knows it has to lie and rig the election through voter restriction laws when the only ones caught cheating was you

Wrong. You've got it completely wrong....as usual.

Issa is expanding his investigation to include active groups that he believes were harassed by the FEC. This has nothing to do with the original mandate of this panel to look at the IRS. This is a totally new direction. Apparently, his original IRS invetigation has come up empty, so now he's looking for new cages to rattle. A waste of taxpayer money is all it is.
