First on CNN: Issa expands IRS investigation

Washington (CNN) - House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa demanded Wednesday that the Federal Election Commission turn over records of more than five years of communications with the Internal Revenue Service - a move that significantly expands the California Republican's ongoing probe of alleged federal targeting of conservative groups.

In a letter to FEC Chairwoman Ellen Weintraub - a Democrat - Issa cited CNN reporting on Monday that raises "the prospect of inappropriate coordination between the IRS and the FEC about tax-exempt entities."

First it was last year, then it was 3 years, now its 5 years. Issa is bound to find "ONE" email out of the tens of thousands that were sent over the past 5 years that shows a conservative group was targeted. Why is Issa only asking for 5 years why not go back to when Bush was in office when Liberal and progressive groups were targeted.
    -

because this is how long the corrupt obama adminstration has ben in office. if there was any evidence of what you say, then surely the democrats would have investigated it from 2009 -2010 when they controlled all of the federal government. or even in the last two years of the bush adminstration when democrats reid and pelosi controlled congress and could investigate anything they wanted to.

nice try though, but we gotcha!
    ************
No, we gotcha. Pelosi and Reid were under strict instructions to focus on the Economy and passing the ACA, which in an earlier incarnation was referred to as Romneycare. Unlike the GOP, the Dems decided to focus on things that matter rather than engaging in worthless payback at the taxpayer's expense. It did NOT stop them from straightening out the Dept of Interior, where employees were receiving sexual favors from oil lobbyists.

the democrats have turned the federal government into an organized crime syndicate and they should be prosecuted under the rico statutes.
    --

I agree 100%. I mean look at all of the corrupt Democrat controlled states and cities. Why wouldn't it also extend to the federal government level? It is only logical.

And people wonder if there are real terrorist threats..... I know if I were a terrorist, this would be the prime time to strike. We're too busy infighting to pay attention to the real threats.

And you know the moment we are attacked these traitors will be screaming from the tops of their lungs..... It's Obama's fault!!

As Issa should. Democrats apparently want the government to run rampant UNLESS of course anyone else is running it. I for one don't care for the government no matter whos running it to be able to govern without checks and balances in place.

I can hardly wait until the Republicans take control of the federal government and start attacking, harrassing and suppressing the liberal/progressive groups, people and businesses.
    -–
They already have under Bush, but the liberals arent cry babies like the conservative teaturds.
    -–

Right... Because Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are just so darn nice and never ever want to appear to be attacking and investigating Republicans! In other words, there was nothing to investigate and they knew it. They would NEVER have passed up an opportunity to bring down the opposition. Please spin your fairy tales elsewhere.

As for the people who support these false political controversies that are contrived by their [R] politicians, you know the ones who come on here and obediently parrot all the witless contrived factoids, I'd like to label them as semi-tards; but there is nothing semi at all about their -tardation.

These people listen to the noise spewed by their hate-rado puppetmasters and then come on here and parrot these malignant fantasies verbatim as if they were fact. I did not know modern humans were genetically disposed to such stupidity....is it no wonder that Teatards do not support the teaching of evolution when there is so little evidence that they partook in it?

5 years? That's way beyond the scope of even the accusations the GOP/Teatrolls have made. Now he's just on a fishing expedition. well, he's been on a fishing expedition...didn't like the fish he caught in the first pond either because it ended up including evidence contradicting the GOP/Teatrolls' accusations, so they had some self-avowed republican employee of the FEC make new accusations to give themselves a hook for (a) keeping the conspiracy alive and (b) fishing in a new pond.

No, they had other things to deal with, like the economy the GOP cratered. In the worst economic crisis sincet he Great Depression, political payback is a luxury that only the GOP feels we can afford.

He didn't quite like the haul in the first pond though because it ended up including evidence contradicting the GOP/Teatrolls' accusations, so suddenly some employee of the FEC (who even admits he's a Republican) comes out of nowhere to make new accusations to give the GOP/Teatrolls in the House a "hook" for (a) keeping the conspiracy alive and (b) fishing in a new pond. The only conspiracy going on here is in the GOP/Teatroll caucus in the House.

"passing the ACA, which in an earlier incarnation was referred to as Romneycare"

TP, I find yoiu to be one of the more reasonable liberals here and you don't seem to totally demonize someone just because they have a difference of opinion from you. This quote, however, is quite disingenuous and is not intellectually honest. There is a huge difference between the ACA vs Romneycare and you should know better. Romneycare was in one state and its residents wanted this law which is perfectly acceptable. The ACA is a federal law and therefore has no relevance whatsoever to Romneycare. It is not correct to compare the two.

Sorry, your boys already did that under W. The difference is that when it came time to take out the trash, we focused on cleaning out the damage done by the gross economic mismanagment of the GOP.

We're angry at Issa because he going on a fishing expedition at taxpayer expense. He found no political targeting of conservatives only in 2012, so now he's trying to find evidence of conservative-only targeting in 2008.

    Well, lets look:
    1. Issa is now investigating well before the event. In CJ terms, he's "fishing". He's got no evidence of any wrongdoing at all- yet he's still wasting taxpayer dollars.
    2. Does anyone with a higher than room temperature IQ believe the TEA Party "patriots" are in even the slightest, public welfare organizations? Really? They we trying to perpetrate fraud, and should have been investigated. The crime here is that they actually got 5501 (c) 4 tax exempt status.
    3. Issa is a criminal himself- a common car stealing, fire-setting street thug.
    4. Issa represents the TEA Party- conflict of interest anyone?
    5. There IS NO controversy, and no crime her-nor a cover-up. This is straightforward delusion (or lies) from the GOP.

Enough reasons, or should I go on?
