Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama and wife Michelle left the White House Thursday evening to celebrate the president's birthday at a Washington restaurant.
The traveling press pool reported the Obamas were dining at Rasika in the northwest section of the nation's capital.
"The President and First Lady are going out to dinner to celebrate his birthday," the White House said.
Obama turned 52 on Sunday.
According to its website, Rasika serves modern Indian cuisine, offering "small plates, a modern lounge, and a temperature controlled wine cellar."
The traveling press pool reported "few people seemed to notice as the motorcade drove down Pennsylvania Ave, stopping at the lights along the way."

Comeon folks are still celebrating this birthday........better late than never. But am just curious, what does Presidential Food really give the body when we still stay alive, even longer with peasant Nigerian-Ibos food like AKPU & BITTER LEAF SOUP.
Still young and in love, again happy b-day and God bless.
Happy Birthday Mr. President.
This is news? Why?
Probably on our dime, too.
And why is this news?
I'm surprised Obama didn't simply delay the law requiring vehicles to stop at traffic lights for his trip.
Um, is this really news? Can't the guy go out and have dinner without you guys generating column inches?
I'm so glad this made the news. Not.
They can afford that?
Bill and Hillary celebrated their anniversary at Rasika.
WOW....How important is this ?
This is political news? Let the man enjoy a night without the glare of the spotlight.
How fun! What a great couple and admirable first family.
At least that's a reasonable trip to relax.
