Date night for the first couple

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama and wife Michelle left the White House Thursday evening to celebrate the president's birthday at a Washington restaurant.

The traveling press pool reported the Obamas were dining at Rasika in the northwest section of the nation's capital.

"The President and First Lady are going out to dinner to celebrate his birthday," the White House said.

Obama turned 52 on Sunday.

According to its website, Rasika serves modern Indian cuisine, offering "small plates, a modern lounge, and a temperature controlled wine cellar."

The traveling press pool reported "few people seemed to notice as the motorcade drove down Pennsylvania Ave, stopping at the lights along the way."

Most Presidents celebrate their birthdays with family and friends but it seems this President is with his best friend and his celebration had to with due to important business protecting the US and Americans working overseas.

I've never met a dish of Indian cuisine that I didn't like. I love the variety of spice blends and chutney.

I'm guessing the people who will whine about this in this forum are the same people who talk about how the "American family is being destroyed".

Words escape me to express how little this means.

CNN's crush on Obama is blatant.

And this is one of the top news stories on CNN. That's all you need to know about CNN's dedication to covering the news in an unbiased fashion. Can you imagine CNN posting an article as one of it's main headlines, "Bushes Go On Date night"? Neither can I.

Just another attempt for CNN to sensationalize their king. Obama has had more vacations and social engagements in the past6 years than I have had in the past 22 years. Must be nice to be a leader who cares only about his own personal welfare over that of the people.

CNN posts more about Obama's social life than of his actual progress in office. Unless that is all there is to tell about the administration that knows nothing about the national or global situation.

OMG – you people are soooo bitter. It is a just a nice feel good story. We are all aware of the problems this nation, and the world, are facing. It is just nice to have a respite every now and then. It clears the mind. Even this President of the United States – Barack Hussein Obama – desires time to celebrate his birthday with his wife. You people need to take your hate and choke on it. I hope all of you who are being nasty just to be nasty are not teaching your children to be nasty just for the sake of being nasty. It serves no purpose.
