Date night for the first couple

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama and wife Michelle left the White House Thursday evening to celebrate the president's birthday at a Washington restaurant.

The traveling press pool reported the Obamas were dining at Rasika in the northwest section of the nation's capital.

"The President and First Lady are going out to dinner to celebrate his birthday," the White House said.

Obama turned 52 on Sunday.

According to its website, Rasika serves modern Indian cuisine, offering "small plates, a modern lounge, and a temperature controlled wine cellar."

The traveling press pool reported "few people seemed to notice as the motorcade drove down Pennsylvania Ave, stopping at the lights along the way."

Haters, all of you. We all know it's news when the POTUS does anything, so why should this be any different. It's his birthday, and he and his wife should be allowed a break to celebrate it. C'mon, why am I even talking to you people. I mean, really? The Obamas can't go out to dinner without some closet racist bringing up race and what happened to someone by some black boys. Bad things happen in this country every day, so get a grip and go out and try and help someone in your community, the elderly or young families with children, someone at your church, or simply just pass on a good deed that's been done for you. Stop griping about what's wrong. Your lives must be miserable, but that's not because of the Obamas. I always try to see some good in my life every day. Like the president or not, agree with him or not, that's your right, but PLEASE STOP spewing the racial stuff. It doesn't help any of us. We're all just trying to get along.

Tax payers dollars put to good use here. Millions jobless, underemployed, or have given up on finding a job but Oshame-of-the-states goes on vacation after vacation and out on date nights?

Oh those laughable libs. They get their panties in a bunch because Republicans don't fawn over their beloved Obo, and yet they complained about GH Bush every second he was president. Get over yourselves libbies, we don't care about Obo, and we never will.

Articles involving President Obama seem to act as fly paper for Republicans, eager to whine and cry. Wish F OX would open its articles for comments. Half of CNN's "commenters" would be gone.

@H33ITurn....why don't you pose that question to the Republicans who'd rather see this country fall into the abyss rather than concede to or comprise on any proposal this president has set forth. Many in power would see this country fail before they allow THIS president to be given credit for any success or improvement.

You all should be angry at the ones in government who could care less about you (they know that they and their familes are set) not the one who is not allowed move forward with any change. If you can't see what's going on here you are either brainwashed, very gullable or worse....smh.

"what a disgrace...hey America, how is that "change" working out for ya??"

Purty good, actually. Bush's policies left this country swirling down the toilet bowl and Mr. Obama has done much to plunge us back up. Check your 401k lately? Check the number of jobs created since Obama's election? Oh, never mind.

Say, I haven't scrolled through all the comments. Anybody refer to Michelle by racial epithets yet? Stay classy, conservatives.

what a disgrace...hey America, how is that "change" working out for ya??
yeah, I guess its a disgrace when Obama has been on vacation 1/4 the time his predecessor was. As far as change is concerned, anything is better than the situation he came into 5 years ago. Does anyone really think that the worst economic mess in 80 years could be wiped away in a few days? Apparently, some on the Right still think that the Tax Cut Pixie Dust is the only thing required.

In that story about the little girl and her bike. Were the perpetrators adults? No.
Did they attack her because she was white? No, because as bad as some of us are, we do not teach our children to hate whites.
Were the killers allowed to walk and not even arrested?? No.

Completely different scenario. And please believe those boys will be in prison for life. Is Zimm??

Would someone please remind some of the Obama critics that Congress just began a month long recess? Point out that this story is news because there is no other news. Washington DC is a political ghost town right about now.

This is the first president since Jimmy Carter I cannot get behind on nearly anything he says or does. But honestly, is going out for a birthday dinner a reason to crucify him? No. Frankly, I don't give a rip roar about his birthday dinner. It's the things he does/does not do all the other hours of the day that matter to me. I hope they had a nice dinner, and he will finally concentrate on doing his job. Happy birthday.

I don't care whether he is black or white, I know he is the best president we ever had.
