Date night for the first couple

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama and wife Michelle left the White House Thursday evening to celebrate the president's birthday at a Washington restaurant.

The traveling press pool reported the Obamas were dining at Rasika in the northwest section of the nation's capital.

"The President and First Lady are going out to dinner to celebrate his birthday," the White House said.

Obama turned 52 on Sunday.

According to its website, Rasika serves modern Indian cuisine, offering "small plates, a modern lounge, and a temperature controlled wine cellar."

The traveling press pool reported "few people seemed to notice as the motorcade drove down Pennsylvania Ave, stopping at the lights along the way."

Why are the news outlets hiding the fact that this president's martha's vineyard vacation is costing $7.6 million after he closed the white house for tours and the blue angels activities, not to mention a whole host of truly, american patriotic activities. He is a disgrace and it is disugusting. Go to camp david for vacations in this economy. They would never let george bush get away with anything. This has become a true dictatorship with the dictator at the head.

Yeah, how dare they interrupt the every day all day stream of Chris Christie coverage about his weight loss, polls for 2016, his latest release of information about his personal life, etc. It is so obviously and sickeningly biased for the MSM to report on the POTUS' birthday when they're clearly supposed to be propping up the GOP's best hope in 2016!!! Waaaaah!

I don't begrudge him & his wife their time together, especially for his birthday. But, this is kind of a silly thing to report.

All presidents should severly limit their personal outtings, it costs us way too much.
And yes, they don't deserve a vacation until after their presidenc, it's called sacrifice. I haven't had a vacation in about 10 years. Don't get me wrong I get a couple weeks off a year but we go see my wife's parents since they live far away and are old and enjoy our company. And let's not act like a night at home for them is anything like a night at home for us, servants and chefs are not at my house.

Wow, CNN....you talk about this but not Benghazi, IRS scandle, NSA scandle. He is exempting congress and their staff from this terrible health care law that he is shoving down our throat.....he is spending millions of our tax dollars to go on a vacation most of us can only dream about, yet we cannot go on white house tours because of the budget. And this is what you want to report about this president? No wonder why CNN is a joke.

So what! I bet he had Gumbo with Okra for dinner. I wish he get this messed up country on track. He does not have a clue about job creation because he never had a real job.

Everyone relax. It shows the President is a husband. All President's do this sort of thing like dinner and trips. He is still working while on vacation. The briefings don't stop.

Who cares if he goes out to eat for his birthday? He should be working on saving this country. I wonder how much this event cost the taxpayers.

Thank you for not taking Air Force One out for a "date". Thank you for not wasting too much money on this one.

"I wonder how much this event cost the taxpayers."

Same thing it would have cost if he stayed home. The POTUS pays for personal meals like this with his own money. The security etc. would have to be paid for REGARDLESS of whether he went out for dinner or took a dump for 2 hours in the Oval Office crapper while reading the latest intelligence reports.
