Date night for the first couple

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama and wife Michelle left the White House Thursday evening to celebrate the president's birthday at a Washington restaurant.

The traveling press pool reported the Obamas were dining at Rasika in the northwest section of the nation's capital.

"The President and First Lady are going out to dinner to celebrate his birthday," the White House said.

Obama turned 52 on Sunday.

According to its website, Rasika serves modern Indian cuisine, offering "small plates, a modern lounge, and a temperature controlled wine cellar."

The traveling press pool reported "few people seemed to notice as the motorcade drove down Pennsylvania Ave, stopping at the lights along the way."

I do not understand all the haters out there. Let the president go out for his birthday and let the press report it. Believe it or not the press has done this with every president. Sometimes the president asks them to stay away sometimes they don't it is his birthday it is his wife just let them be a married couple for once without your hate just pouring out.

Obama has already saved this country from the economic collaps, look at wallstreet, look at unemployment. Had Romney won office the numbers wouldnt be nearly as good. Of course the footdragging congress would have assisted Romney to a point but that would have just shown all of you that the GOP trickle down mentality doesnt work, never has and never will. Leave Obama alone, he is a man thats all let him live a few moments without all your hate.

This is a news page, not an op-ed page. Most Fox viewers are unaware of the difference because Fox has blurred the distinction between the two. You think you're watching news, when in reality you're listening to an editorial.

haha, it is funny reading these comments. People couldn't make it any more obvious how biased they are about their attitudes towards the President. Just goes to show people will use any excuse to complain and bash someone they do not like, regardless of situation. The article just said the President and First Lady went to dinner for his birthday..... Yet people go up in arms and blame CNN for pandering to the President?....hahaha How ridiculous! The media pulled out all the stops for the Royal wedding and baby, for weeks, but god forbid they write a simple article about our President's birthday.... Seriously, get over yourselves. Spend less time complaining about how much the tax payers are paying for the President's birthday dinner (which was probably free anyway, if not paid for out of their own pocket) and more time on the BILLIONS of dollars in wasted Congressional spending each WEEK! People drive me crazy with their trivial nonsense.

    Grim

All presidents should severly limit their personal outtings, it costs us way too much.
And yes, they don't deserve a vacation until after their presidenc, it's called sacrifice. I haven't had a vacation in about 10 years.

In regards to the cost of the Secret Service motorcade, the costs are all in the budget that has been approved by Congress. I have not read one story about the President or anyone in the current Administration going over budget. There have been stories about improper use of funds but even those instances seem to have come in under budget. The President has been a good steward of the country's finances. He deserves a beautiful birthday night out with his beautiful wife.

I have to give it you Mr. President, the mere mention of your name causes the P W T that post here daily to lose their collective minds.

I hope you enjoyed your birthday dinner!

"He is exempting congress and their staff from this terrible health care law that he is shoving down our throat....."

That is an absolute lie. Every single large organization/employer in the country must provide health care coverage for its employees under the ACA or face the penalties. Grassley's amendment made the United States federal government the ONLY large organization/employer in the country that was not subject to that requirement and, in fact, had to force its employees into the exchanges. YOU HAVE IT 100% BACKWARDS. Grassley's amendment, in fact, treated the US Gov't and its employees differently than any other large employer and their employees in the country. The regulatory decision that will allow congressional staff to have their health care covered by their benefits package FIXES Grassley's poison pill to so that the US gov't and its employees are being treated the SAME as everyone else. Go read something informative instead of just absorbing whatever excrement Faux Noise and Red State are serving.

Let us pray this great Nation, this unique experiment in freedom and Democracy for all, survives the rest of the Obama administration without becoming a second-world Socialist nation, where the racial clock has been turned back decades, and divisiveness made the watchword, by the comments of this sitting president.

If it was a trip all the way to an ezoric location or somewhere in another state, like back when the First Lady flew her eldest daughter to Atlanta to see Beyonce kick off her world tour a few years back. I can see the outeage. But cone on people, its a nice dinner for a man and his wife for his birthday. So I guess everyone here has never gone to a nice rest for a nice dinner out with someone you love, wife, husband,...etc for a special event. Whether its birthday or Anniversary. I agree let them be a couple and its not the first time a President and First Lady has been snapped out to dinner on his birthday. However, I do have a big problem with the fact that we are basically under terrorists watch, and all the Embassies are shutting down because of this and what does our so called President do? Go on Leno of course. Didn't know we had a celebrity in the White House, but then again I've never seen the First Lady be on so many tv shows as Michelle Obama has. I guess she is really living the American dream while so many of the American people are still suffering. Also, since unemployment is down, is it because people who are desperate to support their families that they take any part time min wage job so they can survive, the fact that after a while unemployment checks or just gave up. So as far as dinner no big deal, get over it. Its the other things we need to focus on as American People the major problems together.

And in other news, the Republican House continues to do nothing about the economy or jobs. Oh wait, they're on vacation. I'm sure they'll do as much on vacation as when they were supposedly working. After all, you don't need to be in Washington to say NO NO NO NO NO to everything.

They are getting ready to complain about him going on vacation next. Darned if he does, darned if he doesn't. Come on racist GOP/TP people, just tell the truth. He does not look like you severly conservatives and you will be complaining until the cows come home.

Rudy NYC, were you also that concerned about 9/11, the Iraq war (which came about from fabricated intelligence), the stock market crash, the housing market crash and the auto industries bakruptcies, all caused by the GOP?

Benghazi is a dead horse. The GOP wont even get a bj scandal this time to justify spending time and taxpayers money on a dead issue. Rudy, just tell the truth, you donlt like Obama, just because he is black. Tell your party to tell the truth too. We all know it.

Well, the response to THIS is going to be interesting... if I didn't have to go to work tonight, I'd have a tangueray & tonic to sip. Proceed... popcorn will suffice.

Actually Steveo, many, many RWNJ's that were posting here before the election stated if Obama was reelected it was over on that day. I am aware the original prediction came from the Mayan calendar but that didn't stop the RWNJ's from attempting to tie it to President Obama's reelection. Our favorite Rick M even changed his name to Rick McDoomsday......
