Atlanta (CNN) - Jackie Gingrich, the first wife of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and the mother of his two daughters, died Wednesday in Atlanta, according to the funeral home organizing her arrangements. She was 77.
The Almon Funeral Home in Carrollton, Georgia, did not give her cause of death, but Gingrich had battled cancer for years.
God give her peace and her family strength.
Condolences to her children.
Bet ole Newt still had an insurance policy on her - after all, he has to get money for Calista's jewels. He is the most hard-hearted amongst us, and I think it should have been him instead of his 1st wife.
I just dont get it. We can put a man on the moon. We can now use a lab and grow body parts. Why cant we kill cancer? Everybody i know has lost someone to cancer. My heart goes out to that family and all americans that are touched with this pain of death.
Cancer will never be cured as long as there are consumers to line the very deep pockets of the medical industrial complex who are more than happy to string those consumers along until they've run out of money. Can you imagine the fallout for Wall Street if terrible illness could be cured – or better yet, prevented? Ironically, we the taxpayers pay for medical research & development, then go broke trying to pay for treatment.
My condolences to Mrs. Gingrich's daughters. This is the wife that he served divorce papers while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. If it's any consolation, she needn't worry that their paths will cross in the afterlife, as he'll be spending eternity in a much hotter place.
