TIME: Cruz talks about Obama, spats with fellow Republicans

(TIME) - In seven short months, Ted Cruz has become the most controversial member of the Senate. Perhaps the most combative member of a chamber known for comity, Cruz’s withering criticisms of Washington have made him a champion for the conservative base and a potential pot stirrer in the 2016 GOP nominating contest.

I believe John McCain referred to Cruz as a "wacko bird." I cannot imagine why he would say that. The man has no wings!

Today... tomorrow... next year... will make no difference how I view Ted Cruz. He is mentally unfit as a Senator. He will be mentally unfit as a presidential contender. Thus, he will never become President of the United States.

Beyond that, I have no idea why CNN continues to push this man as noteworthy media fodder.

You can only laugh at the hypocrisy and stupidity of the right. The never ending squeal of Obama had no experience, wasn't born in America, Obama is arrogant, Obama is self righteous. Their new darling is all the above. You people on the right are an embarrassment to the human race! Can't wait to hear you talk yourselves out of this one.

    "a chamber known for comity"

Since when? At the time of Madonna's Material Girl tour?

Anyway, I'm not enough of a theologian to say that Cruz is "Evil", but he sure is Stupid. (his words, not mine). And unlike some cynics on the Right, he appears to actually believe the talking points.

    Stupid!

Here we go again, LOL . . . 'ol Cruz is in the spotlight. . (again) Well, the way I got it figured, is if he keeps up the "fighting" with his fellow republicans, he won't last long. In other words, when he's up for re-election, we'll see if he gets to stay IN, or goes back to the court room . . .(which is where this guy belongs, in the first place) The only reason he got voted IN, was b/c of Palin & that ex-governor & preacher from arkansaw, Hucklebee . . Both Palin came here in this state to spend a bunch of $$$$ on him getting elected in the first place . . . The question is this : when his term is up, are the voters going to put him back IN ?
Here's the deal, The most prominent republicans down here, did not care much for David Dewhurst, which is Perry's Veep . . . ( they call it lieutenant gov) so they all band together, and with Palin & hucklebee coming into the state, pouring money into getting this guy elected, that's how he got elected. He was Just a high price attorney. . . or shall I say he IS . . . Is Palin & hucklebee coming back to texas, to rally for support for voting for this guy ??
I guess we will know, when the time comes . . .
    To Be Continued . . .

You left out the most important and biggest complaint of them all. He's not a "natural born" citizen. Cruz was born in Canada, which technically means he's a naturalized citizen and therefore ineligible to be POTUS.

I recall how this same discussion came up in 2008 with McCain, who was born in Panama. In 2008, the right wing replied that McCain was born in a military base hospital, which is technically U.S. territory and not foreign soil. They had argued that had McCain been born in a local Panamanian hospital, then he would not be eligible to be POTUS.

Well, folks. This latter scenario is the exact one the Cruz finds himself in. Born to an American mother in a foreign hospital. His birth certificate says Canada, not the United States. I'm pretty sure that John McCain's birth certificate says U.S. of A. For this and other reasons, I'm dismissing this "wacko bird" and betting on Rand Paul to win the 2016 nomination.

It doesn't matter which party you support , both are dysfunctional and self serving.
Obama is lacking leadership qualities and has no clues about foreign policies.
There is no other western civilized country that is mired down with racial problems , religion and abortion issues as it is in America.
You allow Congress and Senate to use them as political footballs for their own political expedience .
You the voter allow them to play you for fools and as I mentioned before this applies to both parties.
Expect more from your Public Servants.!!

It's a side effect of freedom. If Americans had far less freedom, then those problems would no longer be issues. Look at communist China, where there are monre than 40 major ethnic groups within its' borders. Look at Iran, where there is single state sanctioned religion. Most countries in Africa have all out bans on abortion, and are run by military regimes.

How idiotic–does it mean going to war and drain treasury qualifies foreign policy? Nonsense. Measure your decision. If a guy does not like GOP party–change it. Nothing wrong in changing. Do you know middle east is destabilized because of your Rethuglicans–nation treasury due to GOP fooling. Know this.

And here I thought that Rubio was the latino flava they were looking for to broaden their base. Maybe Jeb Bush can help. He has some latino roots.

Cruz? This guy makes the crazies seem....well....less crazy. He's like the love child Palin and Rand Paul. Crazy ideas and just crazy enough to actually believe it.

Prez Obama is one of the best and smartest leaders this nation has ever had. The Haters find it hard to accept. GWB is by far the worst we ever had next to Woodrow Wilson and his "Birth of a Nation" endorsement. If not for the obtstrutionist GOP this country would be in far better financial/fiscal position.

Remember it was the GOP that took us to war over a lie (WMD), it was the GOP that shipped your manufacturing jobs overseas, it was the GOP that eliminated many of the regulations which resulted in the financial collaps, ruined our environment etc. This is why Hillary will win in 2016 and the Dems will take the House in 2014

And as much as I admire Sen. Cruz and Sen. Rubio for their stance against ObamaCare; I, and their base, admire and respect the US Const. even more. Sen. Ted Cruz is absolutely correct when he states he is a US Citizen by positive law (Title 8 USC §1401 (g)). Unfortunately, the US Const. calls for our presidents to be a natural born Citizen.

An Art. II, §1, cl. 4 natural born Citizen is a person who acquires their US Citizen by reason of birth, naturally, by their natural political right to inherit the citizenship of the father. In order for Sen. Cruz and Sen. Rubio to be Art. II, §1, cl. 4 natural born Citizens, their fathers would have had to become a naturalized US citizen prior to their births. Sadly, neither Obama's, Sen. Cruz', nor Sen. Rubio's fathers were US citizens at the time of their births, making it impossible for ether to be Art. II, §1, cl. 4 natural born Citizen by natural law.

Now I know this isn't what the courts say, but under the court's present ruling, even the offspring of illegal aliens born in this country can legally take the oath of office of the presidency, if elected

Mr. Cruz is neither "conservative" (with or without a capital "C"), nor does he represent traditional Republican values. He is an anti-government, anti-American faux radical, bought and paid for by the folks that mass produced the TEA Party- American Crossroads, Crossroads GPS, Karl Rove and the Koch Brothers.
He is a massive hypocrit yelling that the President of the United States is taking away our rights, while his party is passing law anfter law that takes away the voting rights of potentially millions of Americans; passing laws that violate the Civil Rights Act; passing radical anti-Gay and anti-Immigrant laws- all aimed at restricting rights in America to a far smaller number of individuals. We'll leave the radical Rights anti-woman agenda aside for the moment.
Cruz i an agent for very radical, anti-American change. He is not a member of the "loyal opposition", he has rather transcended that and frankly is very nearly treasonous in his actions- far more in line with the likes of Putin, than Bush, or Obama.

There is no mention of parentage at all, David. In fact, the Constitution does not define the term "natural born" at all. It has been traditionally been accepted to mean "US born", as in born on US soil, but there is any formal defintion anywhere to be found. Cruz is not eligible to be POTUS. Please se my earlier post.

I have heard of NAFTA_ and was unaware it encouraged or even included China as a place to export jobs to. Meanwhile, the first two items in the original post stand- lies about WMDs, and a horribly botched foreign policy; "Cut taxes and spend"; and financial de-regulation all of which contributed to the financial ruin we faced at the close of the Bush Administration. That Obama has accomplished so much in the face of Republican obstructionism and hatred (remember the Birthers), is almost a miracle.
