That means he is getting ready to steal more privacy, and install more power over the citizens, stealing our freedoms in the process, and then telling us how he is protecting those freedoms he just stole.

Don't do it Mr. President, they're still going to complain about you. Now they'll say you're assisting the terrorists aka your brothers in the Muslim Brotherhood. Stop trying to placate them. No matter what you do they are going to hate you.....because as many have said....you're not one of them.....

Increase transparency? Hopefully. Restore public trust? Good luck with that.

The only good plan would be to shred old communications on everyone accept convicted criminals, also people should be given a warning if they are being monitored. Smart people can just as easily say that would stop criminal activity right then and there versus creating a pattern out of words.

Another lie. Transparency is one of the presidents favorite words, but I don't think he means any more transparent than seeing through a concrete wall.

Back in 2008 you promised transparency. You sure gave us that with the Benghazi incident, fast and furious and now the NSA. All of this crap paid for by our wasted tax dollars.

You sir are a failure!!! 99% of our govt are corrupt criminals! You all violate our laws with no second thought. The first amendment is almost gone, soon the 2nd amendment.

In the end it's pathetic I have more respect for Russia and Putin than the US of who???

Why don't you, Sniffit, Rudy, Just A Thought, and some of the other "regulars" go into a room and have a discussion. The topic is "Have race relations improved since the election of out first Black President". It should be a lively discussion, since EVERY comment you all make have racial tones to them. Report back to the class with your findings, mmmmkay?

I'm a Democrat, supported Obama enthusiastically in 2008 and somewhat less enthusiastically in 2012. Now I realize that Obama is worse than Bush.. a REAL "Manchurian Candidate" if there ever was one. And I will NEVER believe one word that comes out of his mouth again. The man is an utter fraud and a compulsive liar.

The president is going to lie again. He needs to cover his assets and will say anything that
people are foolish enough to believe.

The 'Transparency' president is getting ready to 'increase' transparency and 'restore' public trust? LOL The same president that was going to have all his many press conferences and fireside chats like Roosevelt shown on C-Span and everything he does posted on his internet site so all America would know everything that's going on in the White House.. Before he can 'increase' transparency and 'restore' trust, there has to have been some transparency and trust to start with. I think its a little too little, too late, Barack.

1984 has arrived, just 30 years late. We have the "War Without End" against terrorism to justify Big Brother's constant and expanding oversight. "War is Peace" or is it "Peace is War" or does it make a difference. Afterall, in the age of Doublespeak, transparency will continue to be defined by secret FISA courts with secret judgments. Meanwhile, our kids will go to school and learn about how our forefathers had a revolution against lower taxes and a less intrusive ruler than we have today, and about how their grandfathers fought and died to preserve the liberties that we squander so cheaply in the name of "security."

TOO LATE. No credibility left at this point. Almost doesn't matter what Obama has to say now. No one will believe him.

The people have always some champion whom they set over them and nurse into greatness. . . . This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears above ground he is a protector. . . having a mob entirely at his disposal . . . . —Plato
