Who is eligible to run for president?

Washington (CNN) – While the issue of President Barack Obama's birth has long been settled, and it's a moot point anyway since he's in his second term in office, there remain some people who won't be convinced.

Just ask members of Congress, who even this summer are encountering so-called "birthers" at town hall meetings.

    There is a segment of our populace who are just plain bat poop crazy. Facts just get in the way of their beliefs and narcissists like Donald Trump are only too happy to give aid and comfort.

    Citizen scholarship falls on the side of McCain. He had two American citizen parents and one was working for the U.S. government when he was born in Panama.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    He was born on an American military installation, so he was born on "American" soil, which made him eligible to run for President.

    So how does trump reconcile this? He's of one opinion for President Obama, and a completely different opinion for the guy who WITHOUT A DOUBT WAS NOT BORN IN THE United States. What's up with that? What indeed...

    it is what it is

    I'm all for things that will cut pollution, but putting up windmills that kill birds is almost as dumb as this President.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Fewer birds are killed by windmills than by pollution spewing from fossil-fuel based energy sources. Time to take your little strawman and go back to school.

    Now let's be fair – the previous occupant of 1600 Pennaylvania Avenue wasn't ELECTED the first time – he was installed by the USSC. I totally get what you're saying about voting for him the second time thought, although ya can't blame me – I didn't vote for that eight year reign of error EITHER TIME!

    Yah is Cruz gonna run,a Canadian at that..And if you investigate futher McCain legitimately couldn't run either because when they actually investigated his birthplace it wasn't at the military base in Panama where his family resided it was in a small village hospital miles away as McCain has stated previously during his campaigning!!You also can't find other facts about him because his admiral father had all McCains records sealed,nice ha!!Now start your rants about Pres.Obama and his supposid impeachment by that piece of garbage rep from Corpus Christi because he's much like his Texas constituents thinking Pres.Obamas a foriegner as well,it'll never stop till he leaves office will it!!

    I want to hear "Benghazi" , "birther", and as many anti-woman slurs as possible. Every day please! I like to imagine that each time it happens, it drives a few more voters from the middle and near-right soldily into progressive territory!

    Meanwhile, on the Cruz front- you have to love his Daddy railing against Castro and "socialism", and trying to make Obama out to be a new Castro. I am completely positive that the elder Cruz waits anxiously for his Social Security check, and that he makes use of Medicare.

    He was also born in what was known as the "Canal Zone" which was a full-fledged American Territory at the time of his birth... in no way unlike Puerto Rico, Ameican Samoa, and Guam.

    5 Years of listening to birthers baselessly attack Obama's right to be POTUS: CNN silence and failure to ever ask this question and explain it away.

    1 year of a white "good ole boy southerner" from TX being subjected to some "turnabout is fair play" that's mostly facetious: CNN immediately does a story with this question as a headline and puts a picture of him at the top.

    Any questions?

    One day, the GOP will regret turning the TEA Party and the Birthers loose. In doing so, they sewd the seeds of destruction for the GOP of old.

    You having trouble with your color vision? Do you really think the people I'm talking about give a flying rats pink patoot what lies under the skin tone? If I meant Caucasian or anglo or whatever, I'd say it. I said white because I meant white. Dude doesn't even really have all that much of a tan for someone from TX. He "passes" for these people, get it?

    Enough with the "birther" mess! This boat has sailed and sunk. Move on already. If there is a question about who can run there is a process in place to verify the information.

    who is eligible to run ? LOL . . . we, it's certainly not the photo of this guy, cnn. . . 'ol Hill can wait til the last minute, she don't have to do the Iowa thing, like the rest of 'em does. . . she's the only one who's got name recognition. If she does the ground game like Obama done, it will be like the usain bolt had done, in the Olympics. It will be game over. If I were her, I would wait till the last day, to actually "file" my name, so it would get onto the ballot box, in time.

    "Enough with the "birther" mess! This boat has sailed and sunk. Move on already. If there is a question about who can run there is a process in place to verify the information."

    You have to understand though. It wasn't really about winning the argument. It was and is about just inventing it and keeping it alive to use it as something to stoke white fear, resentment and anger over the demographic changes in this country....the "browning" of Amurika. It really had nothing to do with actually winning the argument, at least not for the people who paid others to turn it into a sh-tshow and sell it to the white rural crowd that latched onto it. For the radicalized, extremist RWNJs that the GOP has to carefully cultivated over the past 5 years, yeah, some probably do think they can win the argument, but that's not why it existed in the first place.

    "With Ted Cruz, there is no conspiracy. He wasn't born in the United States. But that hasn't stopped the junior Texas senator from courting a possible presidential bid."

    Cruz has announced he is running for President has he, CNN? If not, what is the point of this article? Other than to perhaps point out the hypocrisy of Trump and the rest of the birthers who tried to use Obama's "birth" as a foil for their bigotry and thus caused themselves to come out of the process looking like complete, well ... you get the picture?
