Obama's 'Schoolhouse Rock' lesson for Congress

(CNN) - President Barack Obama invoked a beloved children's cartoon to try to educate Congress on how to pass a budget.

"Maybe you're not old enough to remember 'Schoolhouse Rock'," the president said in an interview with CNN "New Day" anchor Chris Cuomo. "You remember how the bill gets passed? You know the House and the Senate try to work out their differences. They pass something. They send it to me, and potentially I sign it."

Obama: Republicans privately ‘agree’ with me

(CNN) - President Barack Obama argued some Republicans secretly side with him on wanting to avoid a government shutdown, but they’re afraid they may face backlash from the conservative right.

"Sometimes they say to me privately, 'I agree with you, but I'm worried about a primary from, you know, somebody in the Tea Party back in my district,' or, 'I'm worried about what Rush Limbaugh is going to say about me on the radio,'” Obama said in an exclusive interview with CNN "New Day" anchor Chris Cuomo.

Obama: NSA revelations show 'oversight worked'

(CNN) – President Barack Obama said he believes the latest revelation that the National Security Agency inadvertently collected emails of some Americans shows "all these safeguards, checks, audits, oversight worked."

Obama said in an exclusive interview with CNN “New Day” anchor Chris Cuomo that he is confident no one at the NSA is "trying to abuse this program or listen in on people's e-mail." The president chalked much of the concern with domestic snooping on changes in technology.

Obama: U.S. aid to Egypt no longer 'business as usual'

(CNN) – President Barack Obama said on Thursday that while United States aid to Egypt is unlikely to influence the military government's crackdown on protests, there is "no doubt that we can't return to business as usual."
