RNC puts Biden in 2016 spotlight

Washington (CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden's teaming up Friday with President Barack Obama at a campaign style event in Scranton, Pennsylvania isn't going unnoticed by the Republican National Committee.

The party committee is up with a web video that characterizes the education event in the city where the vice president was born as the first step in the "Biden 2016 kickoff tour."

The video starts with a clip of then-Sen. Obama introducing then-Sen. Biden as his runningmate, at a campaign rally in Springfield, Illinois, five years ago Thursday. It then highlights the Scranton event, as well as Biden's co-headlining of Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa's annual steak fry next month (the Hawkeye State's caucuses kick off the presidential primary and caucus calendar and Harkin's party gathering is a must stop for potential White House Democratic hopefuls), before closing by asking "can we afford four more years of the Obama/Biden economy?"

"Vice President Biden seems to be eagerly laying the groundwork for yet another run for the presidency. With President Obama looking more like a lame duck every day with little to show for his time in office, Biden is finding it even harder to conceal his own presidential ambitions," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, in a statement to reporters.

"And with the president appearing at Biden's side, it looks like there's at least two leading presidential candidates running for the Obama third term."

Biden has not said whether he'll make a third run in 2016 for the Democratic presidential nomination. He launched unsuccessful bids in 1988 and 2008.

During Friday's event, Obama heaped praise on the vice president, noting it was the five year anniversary of Biden joining his presidential ticket in 2008. The president said that was "the best decision I ever made politically."

"I can die a happy man never having been president of the United States of America. But it doesn't mean I won't run," Biden said in an interview with GQ magazine that was published last month.

If she decides to run for the White House again, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would be considered the Democrats' overwhelming pick for the presidential nomination in 2016.

The RNC has already been setting its sights on Clinton, as have the pro-GOP opposition research shop America Rising. And two anti-Clinton super PACs are already up and running this year.

Wow. The RNC is scared of Joe Biden.

Sad thing is, they're right. As it stands now, Rand Paul is their frontrunner. LOL.

Just look at EVERYONE'S investments over the past 4 years. Nothing but improvement. Just look at corporate profits in the last 4 years. Nothing but improvement (actually all time high). Just look at gas & oil industry profits in the past 4 years. Nothing but improvement. Just look at th nations debt and unemployment. Nothing but improvements. Now go look at how many bills were passed by the republican house that had anything to do with these improvements. Facts are Facts! Numbers don't lie. Yes we can stand four more years of Obama's policies. No we can't stand for 4 more years of Republidumbs propaganda!

That's crazy. The 2012 race is over, but apparently it isn't over for the hyper right wing. Far from it. What's scary is that they apparently have a plan in motion to do something about it.

For Biden to win in 2016, he needs to defeat Hillary. He needs to:
    - Get Obama to get the IRS to target the Hillary For President PAC and eliminate their tax-exempt status.
    - Get all e-mail, text, calls, internet traffic from the NSA that has the key words "Hillary" and "Clinton"

But in the end, "...what matter does it make..."

Rudy, I for one am hoping they put that plan in motion. A bogus impeachment charge against the President will only hasten the dissolution of what now passes for the GOP. Funny thing is, they have no idea how unpopular impeachment would be. They've learned nothing from the Clinton fiasco. This is what happens when you live in a bubble: you're shocked that Obama easily defeated Romney, and you think there's wide national support for impeachment. What also happens is that you run out of oxygen in that bubble and eventually expire.

I can't say who I'd vote for, but I can certainly stand four more years of increasing wealth and economic growth.

"I thought they wanted Joe to run. What are they scared of? Joe is just as formidable as anyone else."

Well, to give them credit they ARE promising to impeach Obama (if only folks will so kind as to vote them in as a majority). Biden is next in line. I can only speculate with the RNC. Their message has always lacked cohesiveness. Recently it has begun to lacked sanity. We did get the article yesterday stating Obama's numbers are dropping. Usually RNC talking points are published throughout the media hand in hand with "polling" backing up their ... um, position.

I'm also guessing Jobs! Jobs! Jobs! isn't the fundraiser it used to be (yes, even in GOPerville, folks see through that travesty of gimme the money) and is now being replaced with Impeach! Impeach! Impeach!.

What is obvious is that the RNC is running on empty. Who knows what the major issue will be in 2016. I rather doubt it will be repeal ObamaCare.

Wow, RNC, first Hillary and now Joe . You know why you are afraid RNC/GOP. Because you have Nothing! No ideas to help the American people and No candidate moderate enough to win the General Election. You let the extremist TPers and rwnjs run your party and now you are paying the price. The once great republican party will soon go the way of the dinosaurs.

if the rnc is putting the spotlight on biden, then that means they are in trouble......hate to be a bearer of bad tidings, but the r n c really needs some type of frontrunner, but it's still 3 years too early, I guess. Ever since the newtster got a job w/ cnn, I've noticed he has changed some of his personal views, politically. If his views & the way he sees things was like it is now, when he was in Florida, running against Romney, it would have been a much closer race

Clearly, everything is beyond you. It's hard to tell if (1) you're a troll deliberately making ignorant comments in a pathetic attempt to upset people because you get perverse pleasure out of it or (2) you're actually a liberal trying to make Conservatives look stupid (if so, you're doing a fantastic job), or (3) your ignorant, hateful rhetoric is simply the real you.

guess Christy is their "only white hope" sort of reminds me of Jerry Quarry.....LOL ....those of you who remember that ? the "great white hope" ? LOL
To be perfectly honest, even Christy has sort of been "blackballed" by his own party, so to speak.

The RNC needs to send Reince Priebus to the movies, and while he is gone, move his furniture out of his office and box up his belongings. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy.

    @Larry in Houston,

While there are at least 3 Christie uploads a day on the Ticker, they never seem to run a poll on how he's placed in early primary states by LIKELY Republican primary voters. I'd guess he's in 4th place. Those "tea party" folks don't like him very much.

In any case, he reminds me of Tony Soprano. I think that act will wear very thin very quickly. Remember how bad he bellyflopped at the Republican National Convention last year? Not even GOPhers like to get shouted at.

"They have nothing to run on except "trust us.""

Yeah. How many anti-abortion and repeal Obamacare votes have we reached to date? Broken promises aplenty. Actual economic governance? Zero.

I finally read through the article. Preibus maybe wants to tone down the "do we want Biden to be the Obama 3rd term" rhetoric. Judging on how well it played for McConnell to coin Obama a one-termer, it's a losing argument.

    Dum-Dum Driven,
Nobody scared of Joe Biden. no delay that. Joe along with all of his (and) your Liberal friends is still selling the country down the tubes. Your (Liberal) friends have been running the Country for the last 80 plus years. SO, why is the next election a problem? Just the employment picture and food stamps says it all for the Liberal Ajenda. Never mind the nearly 17 Trillion Dollar Federal debt.Like it, or not, the cold hard facts are rearing their ugly head.
