Crossfire Classic: NRA defends guns in 1993

Every day as we count down to the debut of CNN’s Crossfire, our hosts are presenting classic moments from the program’s 23-year history. Today, S.E. Cupp shows us a 1993 debate that’s as timely now as it was 20 years ago: gun control. NRA’s Wayne LaPierre was in the Crossfire after a mass shooting in New York to defend gun owner’s rights.

Crossfire returns to CNN on September 16, airing weekdays at 6:30pm ET.

The NRA was for stronger background checks before they were against it.

Wouldn't be horrible if one of these gun nuts lost a family member to a gun toting maniac?

All this proves is that Wayne LaPierre has been a whacko gun nut since forever. We knew that already.

Does anyone remember the BIG LIE that Lapierre told on "Meet the Press" in 1994 ? He held up two targets; one shot w/a single shot rifle & the other shot w/an AR-15. Each target had one bullet hole & he "proved" that there was no difference between the two guns. . He INTENTIONALLY DECEIVED the American Public. Give me the AR-15 & a 30 shot clip & in 20 seconds I'll really "prove" the difference between the two guns. Not just a liar, but a G.D.Liar.
