Married same-sex couples gain equal tax benefits

New York (CNNMoney) - Two months after the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act, the Treasury Department on Thursday ruled that legally married same-sex couples will be treated as married for federal tax purposes.

The decision has a host of implications, even for couples who now live in states that don't recognize same-sex marriage.

Another win for Americans. Since federal taxes will be lower for these couples, the tea party wingnuts should be dancing in the streets.

Every day, it gets more difficult for the teavangelicals to see their hate and division losing the battle against Minorities, poor, students, seniors, and all other religions.

If they are willing to go to"the vengeance of Eternal Fire" (Jude verse 7) where God sends them, lose Heaven
and get nothing in Hell because of disobedience to their Creator, let them continue and do not REPENT.

"Our jails are not full of pot smokers. They hold drug pushers and sellers that sell dangerous deadly drugs to our children, some of whom die from the drugs. But I guess all you liberals are OK with that? Aren't you always saying we need to ban guns "just to save one life"? Well how many thousands die each year from these illegal drugs? Shouldn't the pushers really be charged with murder?"

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Nearly ONE IN EIGHT prisoners in our jails RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND are there because they were arrested for pot and that with approximately 80%-90% of them being charged solely with possession. A pot arrest occurs once every FORTY TWO SECONDS in this country....and the enforcement of those laws is grossly imbalanced and unequal, with a focus on "urban" and "inner city" areas, despite the statistics and studies showing that use in suburban and rural areas is equal to that in urban areas. We know what the continuation of criminalizing marijuana is all about. It's no secret.

    -just saying

well what people are actually paying is surely going up for many. not only do i have to pay for the increase in my coverage and that of my family, i am also paying for healthcare coverage for others, through new and increased taxes. and what about all those people who decided they didn't need coverage? their costs are going up many thousands of dollars a year.

the only people paying less ar ethose getting free government healthcare (that the rest of us pay for) or people getting government subsidized healthcare (the the rest of us are paying for).

"Surely" going up? Sounds like an conclusion that you have already reached, without proof ( what else is new?) My rates have already gone down, and for those companies that have good experience the insurers can use as a benchmark, they will continue to drop. People can sign a waiver to opt out of the insurance their employer provides IF they have an alternative source of insurance. Can you really name anyone who will opt NOT to ahve insurance? I doubt it. they wil screw themsellves if they are in an accident, and having to pay the full shot themselves. The mandate was to encourage PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY by not forcing others to cover for you. People who cannot afford private insurance have government options ( Medicare/Medicade) that any of us could draw on in an dire situation. Why people feel they are losing their freedom over buying private insurance at reasonable rates is beyond me. whatever rate hikes people see now are the companies trying to milk every last second out of you before the new law takes effect. THIS IS THE GOP ANSWER TO THE CLINTON HEALTH CARE REFORM. Get over it.

Most people here agree with you, so why bother trying to convince people with blinkers on to see the light?
