McCain to Russia: Bring back the Super Bowl ring

(CNN) – When a Russian delegation comes to Washington to talk about Syria, Sen. John McCain hopes they bring back New England Patriots' owner Robert Kraft's super bowl ring.

"I was thinking this morning the worst thing you could do in the Old West was to steal another man's horse. I would think in New England the worst thing you can do is steal another man's Super Bowl ring," the Arizona Republican joked Tuesday on CNN's "New Day."

Russian President Vladimir Putin tried on the ring when Kraft met with him during a visit to St. Petersburg in 2005. Kraft said at an event this summer that Putin put it in his pocket and kept it, and that he wants to see it returned, according to the New York Post.

The Patriots' owner said in 2005 he received a call from the White House telling him it would be in the best interest of U.S.-Russian relations to claim it was a gift to Putin, the Post reported. Kraft said in June that he played along. A few days after the 2005 incident, amid confusion as to whether the ring was a present or was kept by mistake, Kraft issued a statement saying it was a gift.

That's the way Putin sees it, too, the president's spokesman said in June.

"What Mr. Kraft is saying now is weird," Dmitry Peskov said. "I was standing 20 centimeters away from him and Mr. Putin and saw and heard how Mr. Kraft gave this ring as a gift."

Russia, which has major trade deals with Syria, is sending a delegation to Washington for "dialogue" with members of Congress, the Kremlin said Monday.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama leaves Tuesday night for the G20 summit in St. Petersburg, Russia. Obama is scheduled to meet with Putin during the summit, which runs Thursday and Friday

Isn't McCain looking more silly these days? I wonder if politicians actually realize how brainless they look?

McCain needs to check his dementia. Maybe we need a rule to kick out people with dementia from our legislative bodies?

Sen. McCain please separate apples and oranges. This is not the time to deal with that issue, though I know if someone intends to give a present, it will be wrapped up in a nice paper, and few words will be said from the giver. That was not the case anyway/anyhow. Nevertheless, McCain, your message is well received BUT you brought it up at the wrong time.

Is there ANY way we can get this senile old bugger and his friend Pat Robertson into a QUIET nursing facility. These two withered old men need to get a GRIP!!!! Listen, Old Man, if you want a war go fight it yourself! Are we war profiteering here? Seems our whole govt is intent on signing up for yet ANOTHER war. You can find money to help the veterans, disabled, or to even educate our kids, but you all sure find the dough to KILL! This country's government has no heart nor soul anymore, just another over-glutted corporation interested in world piracy!

Speaking of corrupt countries, what is the difference in America. Well, I guess we are smooth about it and give it a different name than what it is – Like campaign contribution instead of bribery. Oh don't forget the "fine print" when you are about to be screwed. Give me a break!

Joey – the only people who are about to be screwed are those living under a republican governor in red states. By refusing federal money to provide for the ACA, their premiums will rise and over a third of their population will not have access to health care. Fortunately seniors will have a safety net with social security and Medicare, and will be all right.

our senator does not have enough balls to fight the syrian war , but he would go to war over a worthless ring,
it was a gift pure and simple, he passed it to him and he tried it on he gave it to him, tell kraft to tend to his noodles.
and please john try and put some time in running the country, the american agenda is to slam dunk russia and china, it won,t work , those are intelligent heads of state try getting along with someone in this old world.
