Op-ed for Op-ed: McCain to strike back in 'Pravda'

(CNN) - Responding to Russian President Vladimir Putin's controversial opinion piece in the New York Times, Sen. John McCain jokingly told CNN's Jake Tapper he'd like to write a commentary for Pravda, the historic Russian newspaper connected to the Communist Party.

Well, now it looks like McCain may get his wish.

According to Foreign Policy's blog The Cable, the editors of Pravda have tentatively agreed to publish an op-ed by the Arizona Republican. The opinion piece will most likely reflect McCain's strong negative views toward Putin.

"We have to remember who Putin is. He's a KGB colonel apparatchik, who has never abandoned the Russian ambitions for an empire, and influence in the world," McCain said Thursday on Tapper's show, "The Lead."

Dmitry Sudakov, the English editor of Pravda, told The Cable that if McCain wants to write an op-ed, he is "welcome."

"Mr. McCain has been an active anti-Russian politician for many years already," Sudakov continued. "We have been critical of his stance on Russia and international politics in our materials, but we would be only pleased to publish a story penned by such a prominent politician as John McCain."

A spokesman for McCain told The Cable that McCain "would be glad to write something for Pravda, so we'll be reaching out to Dmitry with a submission."

When our political leaders are duped into responding to a socialist thug, they have already lost the battle. And who caused all this mess that they are trying to bail out? He's occupying the White House!

"who has never abandoned the Russian ambitions for an empire, and influence in the world" – isn't that what US has become already?

It isn't surprising to me that our Congress has the lowest approval rating in something like 100 years, considering that we have clowns like Obama, Kerry and Cain running it.

Strategic silence can be deafening. This is one of those instances. And really, what did he say that was so offensive? "Me think thou doth protest too much ..."

His last big effort with Hillary fizzled fairly badly. He wanted Russia to release that Kodorovsky, who Putin camped out in Siberia until he fesses up where he stashed the money. Putin responded that McCain should release Madoff. Then send that Summers fellow back to Russia to explain why he made so much money on the implosion of the Ruble. While supposedly consulting on how he wanted to SAVE the ruble.

John McCain is a senile old man and why anything he says is reported as news is beyond me. He picked Sarah Palin for his running mate. My dog Bella would have been a better choice since she knows the meaning of sit, stay, and keep your mouth shut...

McCain is acting like a little girl having a temper tantrum because she was scolded.

Putin spoke the truth, was respectful and for some Americans, it hurt.

McCain's comments towards the President of Russia have been nothing but disrespectful and hateful. Let him write his op-ed. It will only serve to show what kind of person McCain is.

Oh puleeze, McCain. You have nothing to say. What? Equal treatment for gays and lesbians?? Your wife or daughter could say that but not you. What? Immigration reform to treat people fairly who wish to come to this country legally? You, sir, are NOT the President, you lost the election, and you will only look like a fool responding to Putin. At least his diatribe was well thought out, whereas yours sounds like typical "nah-nah-na-nah-nah!!" Go back to sleep, please – your day in the sun remains in Arizona!

It's almost as if some politicians don't care about international relations and would love to see WW3 happen.

With due respect to John McCain, perhaps he should be reminded that he was not elected President, and is really not very qualified to address foreign heads of state.
