Op-ed for Op-ed: McCain to strike back in 'Pravda'

(CNN) - Responding to Russian President Vladimir Putin's controversial opinion piece in the New York Times, Sen. John McCain jokingly told CNN's Jake Tapper he'd like to write a commentary for Pravda, the historic Russian newspaper connected to the Communist Party.

Well, now it looks like McCain may get his wish.

According to Foreign Policy's blog The Cable, the editors of Pravda have tentatively agreed to publish an op-ed by the Arizona Republican. The opinion piece will most likely reflect McCain's strong negative views toward Putin.

"We have to remember who Putin is. He's a KGB colonel apparatchik, who has never abandoned the Russian ambitions for an empire, and influence in the world," McCain said Thursday on Tapper's show, "The Lead."

Dmitry Sudakov, the English editor of Pravda, told The Cable that if McCain wants to write an op-ed, he is "welcome."

"Mr. McCain has been an active anti-Russian politician for many years already," Sudakov continued. "We have been critical of his stance on Russia and international politics in our materials, but we would be only pleased to publish a story penned by such a prominent politician as John McCain."

A spokesman for McCain told The Cable that McCain "would be glad to write something for Pravda, so we'll be reaching out to Dmitry with a submission."

Americans live in the past and are proud of it! Nobody reads "Pravda" these days: you will really struggle to find it anywhere! So considering it is probably a good place for McCain to right his "opinion" for! "Pravda" editor sure hopes that will help him to sell a few more copies. But I do not think many people in Russia knows who McCain dude is: some may think he is an American communist or something!

John McCain should star as "The Joker" in the next "Bat Man" movie... I mean think about that for a minute! He is still a prisoner of war as far as I'm concerned. What an embarrassment he is to AZ residents like myself!

I think this is a bad idea.
You're not the President, Senator McCain, although you think you are.
Leave it alone and let it fade away.

McCain, GIngrich, quit being like high school girls calling names and driven by jealousy, and start acting like men, mature men. We know you are not qualified to be "statemen", so just try to be a simple men.

This is international stage, what the powers are doing, including Russia, is to avoid bloodshed, preserving human lives. Putin is still a head state. You need to show some class, whether you like him or agree with him or not.

Calling him "thug" and such don't make you a saint. As a matter of fact, at this point, none of you in DC are NOT thugs, so quit it. Your behavior and action are EXACTLY what Putin was trying to convey – American Exceptionalism. As far as we know, the number of dictators he supports is PALE compared to the US, most of which happens WHILE you thugs were in office.

Grow up. I don't care what Putin does, what I am pleased about is US bombs are not falling and blowing up civilians. W/o Putin, and if you have your way, you already lead un into another stupid war. Remember Vietnam? Only 1% of the carpet bombing actually landed on bad guys, the rest either none or innocent civilians.

By the way McCain and Gingrich, who are the thugs? Are you the guys who dumped your sick wives and cheat on others?????

Every once in a while John McCain makes some sense, and then we go back to him sounding like he's off his meds again. I'm not sure which one this is. Should be interesting.

Oh, Please! Anybody but John McCain! He fights with everybody over everything. It's the only thing he knows how to do and lost his credibility a decade ago. Please, don't let him write anything purportedly representing what American's think. Please, Please, Please.

McCain fights with his coat hangers, his car, the paper boy, anyone who says anything and old John who long ago should have retired from the field will take the opposite view and fire back with little or no strategic thought.

Muzzles, where are the McCain Muzzles? Let me see, over here? No, over here? Maybe there.
