Did Obama strike the wrong tone on Monday?

Washington (CNN) - The White House is defending President Barack Obama from criticism that he was tone deaf in his reaction to the mass shootings at Washington Navy Yard.

For a second straight day, White House press secretary Jay Carney faced questions about the president's Monday afternoon event. As the situation at the Navy Yard was unfolding, Obama touched on the tragedy before forcefully criticizing conservative Republicans who are threatening to shut down the government.

    @Lynda

    Actually, Richard Wolffe said that President Obama was out of line for what he said on Monday. Have you ever criticized the president? Is that something that is not allowed? Why is that whenever there is a negative article on Obama, everyone freaks out. How dare someone criticize the president, right? Just another example of the soft bigotry of low expectations...

    "For a second straight day, White House press secretary Jay Carney faced questions about the president's Monday afternoon event"

    For a second straight day, the MSM did everything in its considerable power to distract everyone in the country from important issues and factual details and focus them on soap opera BS.

    You know, CNN, this is a remarkably complex nation, with many events and issues competing for attention- and all of which require action. It is utterly simplistic to believe that because of one tragedy, all work must stop, or reflect somehow that tragedy to be acceptable.
    Mr. Obama addressed to looming GOP-fueled fiscal crisis appropriately (along with other topics). The tragic events at the Naval Yard were also addressed by the President seperately- and appropriately.

    CNN, if Obama would have been quite the Repubs would have blasted him for not addressing it. CNN you havent learned nothing over the past 5 years. GOP trolls complain about Obama on everything they possible can.

    Why doesn't CNN report on the hate that the GOP throws at this man constantly? I really do believe that CNN is becoming the next right wing mouthpiece!

    What a CHILDESS question. CNN, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, resist such immature questions? Just what kind of mood and tone would you have if you have been dealing with a group of people who are JUST DETERMINED to make your Presidency as uncomfortable as possible. He spoke the truth, and the "tone" reflected his frustration with the entire situation.

    We need to stop looking at tone and style and focus on substance and what gets done.

    2 wars, crashed economy, h1n1 outbreak, BP oil spill, Joplin tornadoes, School massacre, a disfunctional Congress, Hurrican Sandy, Libya, Syria, etc. This is a short list of what the President has had to deal with. Give him a break. It has only been days since we stepped backed from the brink of war.

    I wonder if Lynda/Minnesota wrote "Give it up already would you, CNN. Just give it up". after our media blamed Pres. Bush for wildfires? I wonder if Lynda wrote "Give it up already would you, CNN. Just give it up" after our media criticized Pres. Bush for standing if from of a "mission accomplished" sign? I wonder if Lynda/Minnesota wrote "Give it up already would you, CNN. Just give it up" after our media criticized Sarah Palin's wardrobe?

    I believe the President's views on gun violence are clear! He was there to discuss the topic at hand, another Grumpy Old Politicians threat to "shut down the government"! It's kinda funny in a way; are they aware that they'll all be out of a job if they do that!? But that's the current incarnation of the GOTP for ya! It's always "go figure" w/them these days!!

    "Did Obama strike the wrong tone on Monday?"???? On Monday? Ha, when hasn't he struck the wrong tune? The best way to bring two sides of a any polarized group is to find common ground. Find issues that both sides do agree upon and get passionate about these ideas. That will bring the two groups together and that is what a skilled leader will do, key word: leader. The best way to increase the divide is to find a topic that both sides sharply disagree upon and push that idea. That is all I see the President doing and as a result the divide is much worse and nothing is getting done. He even does this when it is totally unnecessary, like in criminal cases which he need not act on at all. His skill sets are not leadership oriented and I don't think he'll ever be a great leader.
