Washington (CNN) - House Republican leaders are considering a vote this week on a short-term spending bill to keep the government running and defund Obamacare, according to senior House GOP aides, a move that increases the possibility of a government shutdown.
House Speaker John Boehner and other top House GOP leaders have been struggling to avoid a showdown over the health care law spearheaded by President Barack Obama and funding legislation that needs approval before the end of the fiscal year on September 30 to avoid a shutdown.
But their proposed alternative strategy unraveled last week after a sizable chunk of their members threatened to defeat the stop-gap measure because it did not directly link continued government funding with a ban on money for the new health care law.
Time for the Democrats to drop the gloves and go after these GOP thugs with everything they have! That's the only way to stop bullies!
There will be no compromise..so get ready for another Moody's downgrade if the Republicans continue on this course.
The lost the legislative war and are still whining about it. I would hope that they understand that there is no announced replacement before they really start taking apart what is starting to work. Even Newt understands that.
Remember: If you are at the age where you can draw social security, you're a taker and this program you paid into is considered nonessential. The same people that feel this way about your old age benefits, are the same people that want to keep people from healthcare. Don't worry though, the wealthy will always find a way to get theirs, and they'll do so by duping you.
I think the GOTP are doing the right thing, looking out for the American people & all, by laying themselves off! Just think of all the $ we'll save on all the salaries, lifetime healthcare & retirement benefits! That, if nothing else, should fund Obamacare very nicely for the rest of us!! ;-)
