Michele Bachmann: Obama ‘used to being George III’

Washington (CNN) – Tea party firebrand Rep. Michele Bachmann was unabashed in her criticism of Obamacare and the president it’s named for Thursday night, comparing President Barack Obama with a British tyrant.

“He’s used to being George III,” the Minnesota Republican said of what she described as the president’s refusal to negotiate with Congressional Republicans over the continuing resolution to fund the government.

George III was king of England during the American Revolution.

Bachmann was debating the topics of Obamacare and the Republican plan to defund it on CNN’s “Crossfire” with Rep. Charles Rangel, D-New York.

In a heated exchange, the two displayed some of the fierce contention consuming Congress over the looming federal shutdown threat.

Bachmann continually argued that neither she nor Republicans have any interest in shutting down the government, only in defunding Obamacare by tying it in with a continuing resolution to fund the government. Variations of that plan have been pursued by Congresses of the past in attempts to kill a variety of pieces of legislation, Bachmann said.

Shutting down the federal government is “the last thing we’re going to do,” Bachmann said, pointing out that Obamacare has become an increasingly unpopular law that she and other Republicans consider to be socialized medicine.

Rangel countered that the defund plan is a nonstarter, doomed to fail in the Democrat-controlled Senate. “It’s ridiculous and they know that it can’t be done,” he said.

Republicans want to “kill everything the president stands for,” Rangel said. “That’s not negotiation. That’s putting a gun to the president’s head.”

Rangel argued that Obama in fact got reelected on the issue of Obamacare.

To that Bachmann countered: “And so did I.”

It was Liberals who took up the arms and fought in American revolution while conservatives like Bachmann during that era rather to stay being ruled by despotic King. It is the historical fact yet not being taught in public school textbooks.

Really, you're going to make such a comparison? Such brazen audacity steeped in such ignorance. If he's a Tryant than what Bush did with Guantanamo and such paints him as Satan himself.

This is absolutely laughable. In one breath, in regard to Obamacare, the right claims President Obama is a tyrant and a dictator; in the next breath, in regard to Syria, they claim he's weak.

Basically, no matter what President Obama does, the RWNJs will criticize him. What's pathetically sad is how many people seem more than willing to play the mental ping-pong the right engages in as they flip back and forth in their characterizations of our president.

You seriously have to check your brains at the door to be a repub these days ...

And we care what Bachman why? The real question is when she leaves office, will she do Minnesota the favor and leave the state like Palin left Alaska. She wouldn't know a tyrant if she stepped on one.
Please have her just go away.

bachman may have been elected on her stance against ACA, but she was not elected by all the people, only 1 of 50 states. thankfully, she is simply too dim to win a general election & the tea party, being collectively as dim as she, have yet to realize they lost the election based on their platform.

Bachmann might have gotten re-elected on her wild eyed, pathological, lies about the President, but it's her inability to stay within the ethical lines that are forcing her to leave DC in disgrace next year. It's pretty clear what her opinion is worth these days. Maybe she can get Palin's ghost writer to put together a book for her to peddle to what's left of the Grand Old Tea Party after she leaves office. Her legal bills aren't going to pay themselves.

Why is anyone paying attention to what Bachman "thinks" isn't she on her way out because of ethics violations? Sit down and shaddup lady. It's in the bible.

Michelle would be more at home in a Psych Ward than in the Halls of Congress. She has had her 15 minutes of fame and now nobody really listens to her, except to make jokes about her.

    George I – George Bush
George II – George W Bush, whom Bachman demanded a kiss from
George III – Obama.. does this mean Bachman wants to kiss Obama?

In shutting down government, I hope these GOP geniuses start with their own pay and generous percs first. With all the empty air Backman and her buddies are blowing, they should shut down all of the House heating and or/air conditioning and go out into the sunshine so they might have a moment of constructive thought seep into their oxygen starved brains..

Michelle Bachmann might very well be the most unintelligent creature that has ever walked this earth. And by might be, I mean she clearly is. I feel bad for her, with her fabulous husband and all.

Hmmm- President Obama is a tyrant by trying to get medical insurance for all. If Michelle were President she would have people with preexisting conditions or the working poor not be able to get insurance. Which one sounds more like a tyrant???????????? The day a Republican tries to fix the Affordable Health care act and rid it of the political garbage instead of abolishing it will be the day I respect a Republican. In my spare time I will look for a Democrat I can respect also. So far the score is 0 – 0.
