Dem Senator blasts 'creepy' ads

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Sen. Patty Murray blasted one of several new ads attacking Obamacare for being "deplorable and sexist" on Friday.

The ads are by a libertarian group, Generation Opportunity, which feature young people who go to a doctor's appointment only to have an intentionally creepy Uncle Sam pop up ready to give them an exam. Meant to encourage young people to "opt out," of Obamacare, one ad features a young woman implicitly having a gynecological exam.

To that ad in particular, Murray, D-Washington, called on Republican leaders to "immediately repudiate these tactics and those who stoop to use them."

"This ad represents right-wing scare tactics at the most deplorable and sexist level," Murray said in the statement, saying that the ad is supported by the ultra-conservative Koch brothers.

"This ad shows the utter disregard the right-wing continues to have for women, their privacy, and their ability to make decisions about their own bodies."

In an emailed statement, a Generation Opportunity spokesman hit back at Murray for "allowing her staff to opt-out of expensive and creepy Obamacare exchanges."

"It's a shame she doesn't feel her constituents deserve the same options when it comes to health care coverage," the spokesman, David Pasch, said.

The Dems & the President are NOT doing a good job of selling ACA, so unfortunately the Repubs are taking the lead in MISLEADING people re ACA. Even with lies, the people will believe whatever they are selling. The Dems & the Pres need to step up & explain...

Generation Opportunity is funded by the Koch Brothers. How are these two people allowed to have such incredible influence? Oh that's right. Money=Free Speech according to the worst SC decision since Dred Scott.

The problem with the ad is that it is false, not that it denigrates women. One can agree or disagree with the mandate in Obamacare, but how is an obligation to purchase private insurance of one's choice to see a doctor of one's choice even remotely like a situation where "government plays doctor"? It's not.

The ironic thing is that the left wing could play the same ad – unedited except for the punchline – to oppose any conservative law restricting abortion.

If Congress wants the rest of us on Obama-care so badly, why have they opted out of it? If it's so friggin wonderful, they should sign up themselves.

Anytime the GOP uses scare tactics against something, you can bet that something would be good for the middle class.. PRivate insurance companies are horrible. They make medical decisions for us and they profit when they deny care. The ACA has many problems, but it is a step in the right direction. Start making changes to it. Don't just go back to the old, broken system.

Dennis – That is a lie. Obama and congress are NOT exempt from ACA. Why do you make things up?

The ad was produced by a libertarian group, not the Republicans, yet most of the criticism on this board concerns the nasty Republicans. If you have any proof the Republicans paid or produced this ad, trot it out – emails, invoices, etc. Otherwise, deal with the reality this wasn't your favorite whipping boy.

...and a good point. I didn't see the Democrats gnashing their teeth at the grandma in the wheelchair ad. Hypocrisy?

The American people aren't stupid. They know that the government is intruding upon their health care with the Obamacare mess. It is strange that the liberals can put out videos of the Republicans pushing "Granny" off a cliff, but can't stand it when another group makes a video about them. Why are they saying Republicans? It is a Libertarian group that produced these videos. Why should the Republican Party be responsible for repudiating what they didn't produce? The Democrats haven't repudiated the vile things in ads again Republicans in the last 5 years.

Dennis in LA, there is no exemption from Obamacare for Congress. Members of Congress and its staff ARE required to get insurance from the exchanges. Like all other employers, the federal government can subsidize health insurance for its employees. The federal government did that before Obamacare; it can still do it under Obamacare.

Yeah - I'd rather go in for an ear-ache and have a sleazy insurance salesman tell me to drop my pants.

And then tell me I have a pre-existing condition (I coughed) and deny me payment. Oh yeah. NOT.

HYPOCRITES = the millions of right wing conservatives who are taking advantage of MEDICARE coverage. How quickly they forget that NO insurance company would be such idiots as to provide healthcare coverage to these broken down, arthritic, atherosclerotic, over 65 ancient hypocrites. Of course, in the GOP "good old days" few people LIVED LONG ENOUGH to need senior health insurance!

Hey Dan, it"s NOT a lie. When Congress and their staff were exempted, it was all over the news – and not just the conservative news networks and papers. Pull your head out of the sand, and quit seeing only what you want to see.

So the ads are creepy, but the fact that the government wants to have the choice whether or not you get care isn't? How about the fact that Obamacare forces you to purchase a service from a corporation on the condition that you are alive? How about the fact that it cost over 1 trillion dollars with little results and the nation is going broke over it? How about the fact health insurance premiums are going up and will go up even further once you force people to become the customers to insurance companies?

    Obamacare = creepy.

Please try getting your information from sources other than MSNBC and CNN. OBAMA DID ISSUE A WAIVER TO CONGRESS!
"The Office of Personnel Management announced in August that it plans to provide a subsidy of about 75 percent of the cost for the healthcare of members´┐╝ and staff.
The Obamacare fix for lawmakers and staff was made because the Affordable Care Act includes an amendment from a Republican senator that changes how the government currently covers most of the cost´┐╝ of health-care premiums for members and their staffers."

But, as someone above mentioned, they have no problem requiring the government to stick a probe in women's vaginas if they want an abortion... And it's apparently ok to have an insurance company make decisions about my healthcare, or drop me if they choose, but the government cannot require me to buy health insurance... Apparently the Koch brothers have no problem paying for my healthcare if I show up in the emergency room with no insurance... So how come most of you would go nuts if you find out that you pay more for your car insurance to cover those who are uninsured?? If you don't care, then there is something wrong with you...
